No, you must not be understanding... the Pens had a lower HDCF% so the Sabres actually won the division... the Penguins just had more points (those don't really mean anything).
- MacPatty

Well, the Pens controlled HDCF% in games five and six, 77.78 and 61.54 respectively, so they actually won.

I know right... and so weird how 3 of the top 4 PDO teams in the playoffs made it to the conference finals.

You are confusing me now though... the Pens had the lowest PDO... so you would usually tell me that those other teams were lucky and the Pens were unlucky, but now you are telling me that the Pens suck... you are contradicting yourself.

First of all I’ve always said the pens suck.

Second, you can be unlucky and suck at the same time.

But you can’t lose in the opening round 3 straight years with an aging core and get any benefit of the doubt.

The Penguins without a doubt played a better brand of hockey this season than the previous two. Where they stand right now, not having JR to make whackadoo trades while also assuming Hextall makes more calculated decisions, there's plenty of reason to think the Pens have another shot this coming season and POSSIBLY next depending on how hard Sid and Geno regress IF Hextall makes some savvy moves.

Again, I'm not deluding myself. The window only extends if they surround Sid and Geno with the right players and even then it can only extend so long, but I think you can give the Pens some benefit of the doubt based on how well they played compared to the previous two seasons.

Didn't the Red Wings get bounced in the 1st round like 3 straight years by Tampa before plunging into the basement of the NHL?

You sure can and again, you have an amazing chance of being right here, the Pens won't win another cup. Previous years small samples sizes(something you use as a point in an argument sometimes) with different rosters, injuries and opponents and weird things like covid play in rounds in August, are irrelevant to each other. Its not hard to tell you personally don't want Sid and Co getting 4 rings like some of your boys did. They also weren't making the playoffs this year. You were totally convinced. You were totally convinced Sid wasn't a point per game player either... Id say Geno too but technically he wasn't... But for a month of the season or more, right before going down, he was well over PPG.

The Habs are 2 wins from the cup final... they were a better team than the Pens to you when playoffs started?

Dude, so I found this recipe for pulled pork in the oven and I'm telling you it tasted like the real deal. I usually make my own rub, but I found this new brand that makes amazing rubs and bbq sauces.

The recipe was simple: pork shoulder and 12oz beer in a dutch oven. I added liquid smoke. 300 for 3 hours, then 1 hour without the lid. I swear it was legit as hell.

Once to the Bruins and twice to Tampa.

5-12 in those series. Hmm what’s the pens record the last 3 post seasons?

What's the brand of rubs? I'm always down to try a new brand lol.

I made my first brisket for my girl's pops on Father's Day.

Pettersson is not overpaid. Pettersson is a legit #4 dman. Both Pettersson and Marino had rough starts to the season, but rebounded nicely, yet people got a bug up their asses about them and couldn't let go.

It's also not between Marino and Pettersson, it's between Pettersson and Matheson. Pettersson doesn't need to be gone, but he will be gone for the simple fact he actually has value and his contract is moveable.

- Rinosaur

This is pretty much how I feel. Pettersson is a #4 making #4 money. He doesn't have much more upside besides processing decisions faster so they should have bridged him. And you can find a #4 LHD that doesn't add much physical presence or puck movement.

Being that he'd be easier to move than Matheson you have to move him to address other needs. Unfortunately, he played better with Marino so I wish we could keep him another year while easing in POJ on the 3rd pair.

lol Del Zotto is not as good as Matheson.

On the other hand you replace Pettersson with PO Joseph easily.

- Barnaby36

I'll spell out Fed's argument. Pettersson had the best analytics of the blue line regulars. POJ's were very bad. It's a switch I agree with you they need to make for cap purposes, and I'm much higher on POJ then he is, but it's far from a lock they will be better making that change.

Pettersson and Matheson are 2 different guys. It's hard to directly compare them. What should matter is who plays better with Marino because unless Ceci returns, that's your 2nd pair.

That looks awesome! The brand is Meat Mitch. I'm not sure if it's just new here or new in general, but I've never seen it before. The sauce is the best jarred BBQ sauce I ever had.

I made garbage fries this weekend, everything from scratch but didn't take pics. I did fries with cheese sauce, pulled pork, pickled onions and pickled jalapenos.

Seems reasonably priced online too. Once I clear my cupboard of all the meat church and carnivore black I'll give it a shot. I just picked up some Gentry's BBQ Tennesweet Heat sauce for the brisket and it's awesome. It's not as thick as most BBQ sauces and I think that's why I like it.

Rust and Carter's value contracts both expire. Kapanen, McCann, and POJ are all candidates to be in line for raises. Sid, Malkin, Letang, and Dumoulin will all be a little deeper in their 30s. Not much cheap young talent coming in. I still think the Pens can win a round or two next year, but it's really hard to see them not taking a step back in a year.

Depends on if they were homemade pickled. Canned/jarred yeah, but if he pickled them with the onions, I could get down with that. My chick makes brown people pickled onions for her Dominican breakfast, and I could totally eat some pickled jalapenos if they are pickled like that.

Never heard of those brands, but we don't seem to have a good selection of BBQ stuff in NJ. Meat Mitch's rub is what I used and it was super good. You have to try this recipe though. I was totally shocked. 4lbs of shoulder, cut up in a few big chunks, seared beforehand then everything I said in the previous post.
