as far as game saving moments are concerned, this was the finest not involving a goalie. Put this as play of the year. Nothing comes close. Even McDavid would be proud. Remember that save should the Isles win the round or even the cup. That was a season saving moment.
That may have been the best 5 minutes of hockey this year. The Islanders forecheck for 4 minutes, in the Tampa zone and one of their defensemen having to stay out there for 3 of those minutes. The penalty, then the great last second play. Nothing comes close. The networks never got their last 5 minutes commercial break in, because the play never stopped.
Except for Ovi's one-handed backhander, while sprawling across the ice against the Coyotes. - kritter65
Always thought that goal was overrated. Looked cool, sure, but it didn't exactly take much skill to pull off. He's pushed to the ice and he is able to direct the puck towards the open net because the goalie came too far out of the net and couldn't get to it.
I prefer the similar, but much better, Orr's elbow pass.

Sure, nice effort, but you mentioned Ovi being pushed to the ice - same thing with Orr and the puck is right there in the perfect spot for him to curl it at the net. Ovechkin was on his BACK, and backhanded it with one arm where he thought the goal would be. Incredibly skilled play and used a TON of effort. Let's see anyone else do that.
Yeah...that protection was Crosby esq. Amazing individual performance! - cranktheradio
That's not really Crosby's game, not to say that he's BAD at it. He doesn't use his body as well as guys like Forsberg/Jagr. If they had their back to you, you weren't getting the puck. Crosby's more of an escape artist who can work his way in tight spaces, draw defenders, and make a perfect pass to a teammate.
