He is 24. And the "relax" schtick is ironic AF. - mjones242
The steam that comes out of that guys ears is nuts, yes he needs too relax.
99% of Leafs fans need to relax. |

Rielly sucked aaaall season. All of it. Games 1-56.
But had a decent playoffs. - UsernameUnknown
Did he though? This meme continues to amuse me as Muzzin and Brodie both looked as good or better than Rielly.
The Habs are also a low-event, counter-punching team that pounces on turnovers and converts. They aren't some high-octane offence, high chance team that sustains immense pressure in the offensive zone.
Offensively speaking, did he do much? Rielly had 1g2a in 7 games and 12 giveaways against a team that doesn't score a whole lot.
Rielly is a fine defensemen but I think the book on him becoming a legit stud #1 d-man has likely closed. |

Yes, lets get pissy about it and overreact.
LOL
However, it was recognized by many that the habs did a great job of shutting down AM and MM, price was awesome for sure....but the last 3 games those two had nowhere to go. |

It's quite simple. The Leafs just need to add Barclay Goodrow and Blake Coleman so that their top players can score at near historic paces and win the Cup! - AdamFrench
Its like a key.
TB has the key and the Leafs need to pay 4 and 2 M cap hits to get it. |

Good because the Leafs don't need a 10M d man.
Crazy enough the D they had last season produced very well at both ends of the ice. The need to add d is so 2 seasons ago. |

I think the book is closed on that as well. But I still believe he was ok for the most part in the playoffs. Honestly, I feel our d core did pretty damn well this year compared to what Ive seen the past 10. |

Your ability to diagnose someone's temperature over the interwebs is something else.
Could be making billions with those kinds of senses, yet you're sat on here determining who needs to relax and who doesn't. 🤷🏻♂️ |

Ovechkin has been an absolute playoff beast in all but one playoff run. He had 40pts (20 of them goals) in his first 28 playoff games.
You don't trade beasts who elevate their game when it counts. |

OV is an FA...offer him 10.9 per.
Actually, even at 35 OV is exactly what the leafs need.

Lets sign a power forward to a 6M contract and say it is why we won even though he gets like .10 PPG in the playoffs. |

And the Leafs don't need a 10.9M winger.
Also, I'm sorry if I don't feel like 50+ games in the North Division is truly a litmus test of how capable this d-corps is.
And who is this mysterious 10M d-man you're alluding to? Dougie Hamilton? A guy who has never won a Cup, never won a Norris, and is a mercurial personality is going to command that much?
Nah. I doubt he gets any more than Alex Pietrangelo. I'm thinking maybe 8.5M.
And yeah, I'd rather have him at 8,5M than Rielly @ 7M~. |

Maybe ya, I wouldnt mind it either.
But with the cap, the leafs need the extra 1.5 elsewhere. |

"Why was Marner stapled to Matthews?"
Well it was the only way Marner could convince anyone he was worth his contract. Why else would he demand to play with the best scorer in the world?

Umm, did we even know for sure "he demanded to play with Matthews", many reports have said that was false. |

Leafs can give Rielly Kessels cap hit next season plus an extra 500K on top of what he already makes.
think Dubas will use Krug as the comparison. |

I'm thinking this year should have an asterisk on it when considering just how good the team performed during the regular season.
I'm not willing to bank on results from playing against a 6 team mediocre division.
There are a LOT of question marks that remain for the D corps going into next season:
- Is Holl lost to the expansion draft?
- Can Sandin and Liljegren step into regular NHL roles?
- Do you bring Bogo back?
- If you run with Rielly again, do you keep him as your PP QB or elevate Sandin?
I dunno. I really like Muzzin and Brodie but I think Rielly is overrated and I'm not especially confident our young guys can step up next season and not get pushed around / punished.
I think it's absurd to think the D corps is solid and we should only pay attention to adding to the forward group and another backup G (the latter of which is certainly a priority). |

They produced excellent results so I don't see a reason to change it.
Leafs fans complained for years about D getting results and they finally do and they still want to change it.
Take the names away, look at the stats and they did a great job.
