I'm thinking this year should have an asterisk on it when considering just how good the team performed during the regular season.

I'm not willing to bank on results from playing against a 6 team mediocre division.

There are a LOT of question marks that remain for the D corps going into next season:

- Is Holl lost to the expansion draft?
- Can Sandin and Liljegren step into regular NHL roles?
- Do you bring Bogo back?
- If you run with Rielly again, do you keep him as your PP QB or elevate Sandin?

I dunno. I really like Muzzin and Brodie but I think Rielly is overrated and I'm not especially confident our young guys can step up next season and not get pushed around / punished.

I think it's absurd to think the D corps is solid and we should only pay attention to adding to the forward group and another backup G (the latter of which is certainly a priority).

I never said it didnt need tinkering with, but I feel like it was the issue it has been for a decade.
If Dubie keeps the core 4, I dont see Hamilton as an option...also for 8.5 the canes could offer that and why would he want to leave the success of the canes to sign with proven chokers here in Toronto?
But we'll see.

They produced excellent results so I don't see a reason to change it.

Leafs fans complained for years about D getting results and they finally do and they still want to change it.

Take the names away, look at the stats and they did a great job.

Weak division. They aren’t good enough.

Your recency bias is astounding. You're willing to bet that these purported "excellent results" against 6 weak divisional opponents in a shortened season is enough to say, "yup, this is a solid d corps -- our work is done here!"?

You're drinking some serious blue Kool-Aid.

Not every person wants a cushy ride.

Plenty of players out there that are super competitive and want to be the best and accept challenges. Playing for the Leafs and getting a cup would be the ultimate goal for some.

But yeah you have people who don't care and just want to lay low, win some games and make some money.

Oh wow.

So my opinion of last season is irrelevant because of the division they were in but your opinion is relevant.

Okay lets scrap last season because it isnt a true representation of anything right? ffs

Strong offensive division that's for sure.

I disagree, and I bet they go into next year with the same D core because it was good.

Relax.

🤣

I might have taken that seriously had it come from someone with a shred of composure.

Hey, 99% of leaf fans need to relax remember. If you're not the 1% you need to do some chilling as well.

Holl playing 21 minutes a night.

Nah, this is fine. The guy gets worse as the season goes on, and he sucks without Muzzin. Nah, this is fine.

Holl started off strong, than tailed off toward the end... I still don't fully trust Dermott.
Brodie and Muzzin are both really good, but they are also both over 30 now.

Defense still needs improvements

My argument is that the d-corps needs more than simple tinkering. Are you willing to hitch your wagon to Rielly for years to come? Cuz guess what: he's not signing for cheap when he goes UFA.

As per Hamilton, I don't know what his decision will be. Maybe he does like Carolina and wants to sign a max 8 year deal. Cool beans. I'm still trying to land him if I'm the Leafs up until the moment he says, "(frank) you, I'm signing elsewhere".

The Leafs could definitely sign him for 8.5x7. It'd be a bit painful this season but there's no reason why the Leafs couldn't manage.

If we're to believe the reports that the Leafs want to "swing for the fences", who else are they bringing in but a high priced UFA? Or is there a seismic trade about to happen?

I just find the notion of adding more $$$ to the forward group when you've got 4 supposed star players extracting half of your cap absurdly imbalanced. Guess we're stuck with it though and we can't fit any other stars into this lineup as a result.

So, you could warm up to the idea of Connor Brown plus a 2nd for Marner?

It's quite simple. The Leafs just need to add Barclay Goodrow and Blake Coleman so that their top players can score at near historic paces and win the Cup!

Nah, last season is a true representation of everything right? So let's run it back again in 21/22 because a small sample set against a small, inferior division makes utter sense.

Ffs indeed.

The d couldn't clear the net, how many goals were goal mouth scrambles. that is not excellent results.

is this a form of philanthropy for their fans😮? have they made a connection with them beyond the remuneration that they get from merch and the team😮?
