Why is Schwartz going to cost less?
- MJL

His current contract is about, what .. $5M per. He really hasn't been healthy enough to ask for more.

The NMC is probably unavoidable in this case.

I personally don't feel like any hockey player should be locked in longer than 4-5 years, but the incentives are just too high for both parties to take the full 8. Flyers want to back dive to mitigate AAV. Coots is gonna want maximum security.

He'll get a lot of the money up front, probably in bonuses. They can probably push his cap hit to $7-8M if they go the full 8.

- Tomahawk

Owners cant help themselves and get stuck with bad long term deals. Always wondered why they never pushed for 5 year max terms. Yes they will have to give up something to get it.

Agreed, well said. I would rather have less points but more speed and tenacity for example, because that equates to less goals against.
- jd250

More speed and tenacity does not automatically equate to less goals against.

Of course not but at a certain age, skating is normally the first to go with players of size.
- SuperSchennBros

Chara's skating's been complete ass his entire career, yet he's still effective into his 40's. Knowing where the puck is gonna go beats fast legs chasing the puck every time.

He has a playoff pedigree. It only takes one team.

Listen, here is the deal. It's like sometimes were in fantasy land on here. The Flyers are going to get rid of all of their perceived problem players and contracts. We're then going to bring in better and cheaper players to replace them.

I don't know but that would likely be the only chance you have if you want them to take Voracek.
- MJL

Your probably right, and I know that teams who did this with Vegas really regretted it. There has got to be a way .. I can't watch another season with this guy on this team!

Yep you do understand. Nothing to do with your patently false comment that they give them out like candy. So keep moving the goalposts every time you say something ridiculous and get called on it. Which has been across what? 4 or 5 accounts now?

Rearranging the deck chairs? You mentioned that JVR was on pace for 63 points and 15 PP goals. Which UFA are you going to sign to match that production and at what cap hit?
- MJL

the match production argument. Then why trade anyone.

It does for the Islanders .. I mean lets face it, that is the only reason they are in the final 4.

I don't know enough about them to speak on their potential.
- MJL

So then it is an over statement on your behalf to say he did very well when you admit you dont know enough to make that conclusion.

Yet you know enough to determine that Hextall drafted “extremely well”. I guess if you only mention the successful picks and the yet undetermined picks that is so. IMO Hextall was average at drafting.

yeah moving the goal post my ass. Go flyers. Will you buy a Seth Jones jersey if the Flyer acquire him? Anytime you want to talk hockey you let me know.

Only 4 or 5? Surely your mistaken

You'll notice I limited my responses to players that have played for the Flyers in terms of what they are now. I'm not someone that is going to pretend that I know about every single player Hextall drafted. If that causes you to just dismiss everything I say, I really don't care.

Yes, he was the GM for 4 years and I have watched his top picks play in the NHL. He supplied quality young talent for this team.

Did you see him on the nasty knuckles podcast, basically saying he gets paid to score, not play D. Also mentioned how he doesnt have a good shot, thats why he passes so much

He actually has a decent shot. The issue is that Voracek sometimes passes the puck at the net instead of shooting it. It's unnerving.
