Why would Barzal get supplemental discipline when Marchessault didn't get any for slashing open Perry's face?

Marchessault was swinging for the puck and didn't intend to hit Perry in the face.Actually the initial contact was to Perry's midsection hitting his stick and Marchessault's stick deflecting into Perry's face. Barzal's cross check was retaliatory and he intended to hit Ruuta. I don't think in the face but that's what happened unfortunately.
I don't think there will be a suspension but it was a major and a hit to the head so the league will take a look obviously. Barzal hopefully will only be $5,000.00 lighter in the pocket and available for game 6 tomorrow night.

I can totally see the NYI win game 6, but I don't see them winning two in a row

1st period of game 6 will be telling. The Isles need to bash the door in and score a goal. If the Bolts get another lead in the next two games its over. They're just super super good. Brayden Point 79th overall. Ugh...

Salary cap should apply in the playoffs. It’s idiotic that it doesn’t. Or If a player is on IR and that player comes back for playoffs you must be cap compliment when said player is active for a playoff game.

Let’s not forget that players sign there for less because there’s no state tax

He hit that 🐈 with his freakin glove. Ruuta should be suspended for faking it. What a joke

I am getting fed up with the officiating in the league. When the islanders were a joke and done in April I used to watch the playoffs. Not anymore. The refs have turned this game into a complete joke. In regards to Barzal he has extreme anger Issues he led the team in penalty minutes this season. If his anger continues I could see him getting moved.

Islanders are an average team who relied on the refs for 2 rounds. Need more than that to beat a team $18 mil over cap.

Nothing to do with how much they sign and for how long, let's just say when a team says their star player will be out for the entire regular season but back in time for the playoffs....

Islanders won the first round because Jarry couldn't stop a beach ball coming his way. The Boston series was awesome. One of the best series I have seen. Islanders forechecked the Bruins to death. Wore them down. I think the Bruins series wore the islanders down. Tampa is a great team.

Let's also not forget that nobody here was involved in the contract negotiations. There's also the very high possibility that they were given the choice of, you can take more money now and screw the team like other superstars have, or they can sign for less and be apart of a godlike team.

Taxes do figure into it, but if that was such a massive advantage then can you please answer why other teams in no state income tax states haven't been winning every cup every year and dominating? This is just the flavor of the month argument by fools who think that low taxes are so advantageous but then go and still vote for higher taxes so they can continue complaining about low taxes.

And the fact that players will sign there for significantly less allows them to keep the superteam together. Kudos to Yzerman for finding kids like Point in the 3rd round. Kucherov in the 2nd round. They’ve done an incredible job putting this team together but the truth is that the no state tax puts them at an incredibly unfair advantage

I didnt see you complaining about the referees when they refused to call any penalties against you guys in the Pittsburgh series.

Bottom line, Refs need to call games the same in the regular season and the playoffs. This garbage of "let the players decide the game" is ridiculous. By NOT calling penalties, the refs are deciding the game. Shouldnt we let the skill of the players decide the game rather then let the lesser skilled players decide the game?

Ah yes, the Islanders...the team the league does everything they can to help win because everyone knows that the league is biased against big market teams that are a bigger TV draw

Then how come other team's with this same "incredibly unfair advantage" aren't performing as well? How come the Lightning haven't won every year?

The same situation has existed for years but it's only an issue right now because the Lightning are a good team. This is why you and nobody else can point to any correlation between winning and not having a state income tax. It's based completely in the need for excuses and witch hunting because people can't accept that Julien Brisebois has made all the other team's managers look incompetent.

Nobody is taking away from the fact that the team also had to be well managed to get to where they are, but to deny the fact that Tampa (and a few other teams) are at a huge advantage in contract negotiations due to the tax advantage is just silly.
