I don’t need to give my opinion. I can flag you and be done with it. We all try to respect each other here and have a pleasant time. You’ve become increasingly personal and decreasingly passable. Just be cool.

My guess is Butcher. Guy I hope they don't take is Bastian. Guy I really hope they take but they won't is PK.

Seravalli reporting that Edmonton and Larsson are unlikely to get a deal done at this point and all signs are pointing to him heading to the market. When it comes to the right side, he should be the main target and back up plan if we swing and miss on Dougie

I'd love to get Larsson back on the right side here. Pushes PK down to 3rd pair and could run something out like:

Smith-Severson
Graves-Larsson
Siegnethaler/Murray- PK

That's light years from watching Matt Tennyson and Mirco Mueller play crucial minutes like we have over the past few seasons.

couldn't agree more. getting the band back together . Just a bit of a downgrade from Hamilton.. but I'll take it. Would give us a fairly solid shutdown pair with Graves. He'll be 29 in November. I can't even believe that number. Feel like it was stinking yesterday we won that lottery .. away went Landeskog and Larsson was the pick. crrrrazy.

I think having a competent D may help the forwards be more steady on both ends of the ice. .. plus less goals against, which is an obvious.

The Gusev situation still bites.. but that's hockey sometimes. Really with we had that super early 2nd round pick.

The more and more I think about it, I think Larsson would fit nicely...

Another thing Seravalli mentioned is that he thinks Seattle could take Tarasenko just to flip him, and mentioned the Devils as one of the teams still involved and willing to take his full salary. So it sounds like either way, whether hes taken or not, he'll be traded following the expansion draft.

He also mentioned that he thinks Seattle takes Bastian as their pick from us

Sign Larsson and go heavy after Taylor Hall. For the irony.

Speaking of Irony, if we didn’t win the draft lottery in 2011 I think we would have taken Dougie Hamilton at #8 instead of Adam Larsson at #4.

Anyone interested in the idea of Seattle taking Johansen then flips him to us for couple 2nd rounders and prospect? Seattle would need as many picks as possible to start well...

He'll be entering his prime with us. Make him our 3 line center.

There were a few different people I've listened to that said Johnson will be a 100 pt player. My question is, if that potential is there, why is he ranked so low, especially when none of the other players were mentioned as potentially being 100 pt players.

So while he is very skilled, arguably the most skilled player in the draft, a lot of his production came on the power play, and his skill can sometime get the best of him where he just flat out tries to do too much himself and it has caused him to struggle to produce at 5v5. Whoever drafts him will need to be patient and get him to learn when to reign it in and find a sweet-spot between being flashy/creative and just being a functional part of a unit.

I think he can be a very good forward at the next level if given time, but i would still take Beniers, Eklund, and Guenther over him

Looking at the project line-up before the expansion draft:

--Forward Group--

Zacha-Hischier-Bratt
Kuokkanen-Hughes-Sharangovich
Johnsson-Boqvist-Merkley
Wood-McLeod-Bastian
Extras: Greer, Studenic (possibly these two)

Youngsters who will fight for roster spots: Foote, Holtz, Mercer, Clarke, Thompson

--Defensive Group--

Graves-Severson
Smith-??
Siegenthaler-Subban
Extra: Butcher

Youngster(s) fighting for a spot Bahl, Okhotyuk

--------------------------------------------------------

Defense is easy to solve if Butcher is the one getting taken in the draft. The team can sign a RHD such as Hamilton or Larsson. I personally think the team would need to offer Hamilton $70 mil for 10 years in order to convince him to come to Jersey. I think the team has a better chance of bringing Larsson back. The other option is to slide Smith to the right and Bahl play the left. They'll probably need to play sheltered minutes at the beginning.

The forward group is a different story. If Bastian is taken, I think Merkley can slide into that 4th-line RW spot. Mercer and Holtz will battle for that 3rd-line RW spot.

If neither is ready, perhaps trade for Henrique. I hate the concept of bringing in former players for nostalgia purposes, but I actually think there's a fit for him as a 3rd-line center.

The team has options.

This doesn’t surprise me, except I thought Eklund and McTavish would be after Hughes.

I really hope if we pick Hughes it’s because we truly believe he’s the best player at 4. I think the whole brothers thing is overplayed (though I’ll eat my words if we lose Jack- talk about delaying a rebuild.. ). Would Jack actually leave to play with his brother regardless of contract?

I’m not convinced some see Hughes with tinted glasses because of his name. I want BPA. 4th overall is a high pick and we need to make the most of it.

Also- I wouldn’t move our late 1st for Tarasenko. That’s ok, I’ll pass. I think we could’ve got him for less from St Louis than Seattle. I don’t want a banged up Tarasenko.. just not worth it. Would rather take my chances with that late 1st... that should’ve been 10 picks earlier -_-. We don’t have another 2nd to offer though.. the Gusev pick would’ve been perfect.

Lol I didn’t even think of Henrique as the 3rd line center. That would be great to have him back, and he probably would be a good fit for youngsters around him.
