Anyone interested in the idea of Seattle taking Johansen then flips him to us for couple 2nd rounders and prospect? Seattle would need as many picks as possible to start well...
He'll be entering his prime with us. Make him our 3 line center. - Leniwm1

So while he is very skilled, arguably the most skilled player in the draft, a lot of his production came on the power play, and his skill can sometime get the best of him where he just flat out tries to do too much himself and it has caused him to struggle to produce at 5v5. Whoever drafts him will need to be patient and get him to learn when to reign it in and find a sweet-spot between being flashy/creative and just being a functional part of a unit.
I think he can be a very good forward at the next level if given time, but i would still take Beniers, Eklund, and Guenther over him - vlongo4419
Got a feeling Beniers is going #2 to Seattle. The tough choice is if Anaheim takes Edvinsson or Eklund leaving NJ to pick from Guenther, Hughes and Clarke. Tough decision there. |

All I’m saying is, Jersey can’t look at Holtz Foote, Sharangovich and Bratt and think to themselves “well that’s it, we got our top 6 wingers set in stone.. good to go for the next decade”. No. If Guenther is bpa (not saying he is or isn’t), you take him. |

Yeah i think the top 2 is pretty easy, it's Power and Beniers. Anaheim is rumored to want a forward, even though their track record screams D, so if the rumors/talk from their GM are true then its Eklund or Guenther for them. Then we are like 98% taking Hughes at 4 |

But all three have the "potential" to be really good players and it isnt such a bad problem to have. Do you want the goal scorer, the franchise players younger bro, or a D with high upside?

They’re taking Hughes no matter what, I can just feel it.
Also I’m hoping L'Heureux falls to us at 29 or they try and move up to get him. |

If we keep that pick, L'Heureux would be a great pick. Only question would be did someone else "fall" here. |

I'd really love to know what was going on behind the scenes at MSG starting with the whole DeAngelo things and then the Wilson debacle. I'm all for Drury if these are the moves he makes. |

Interested to see how this works. His $6 million bonus is paid, so he is only due $2 million. So at 50% retained, does that mean his cap hit is $4.5 million for each team and each team splits the $2 million? Regardless, I do not see the Devs getting much in return under any scenario. I would love to be wrong.... |

Paying a signing bonus or salary has no affect on the cap hit. If we retain 50% its a 4.5M cap hit to whoever acquires him and they pay his remaining salary. So if we want to try to get any value out of the return, right now would be the best time instead of the deadline. Right now teams have more flexibility to make his cap hit work, whereas at the deadline, not many teams will be able to fit a 4.5M cap hit and will likely need a 3rd team involved to eat even more salary. I have no idea of his value, so i wont even speculate on what a possible return could look like
It was known for a few days now that Fitz was hard shopping a D, but most people speculated it was just Butcher. Kinda surprised its actually PK honestly |

Yes, I understood the cap hit, its the actual dollars that intrigue me, and I think you are saying the teams split $2 million in actually salary. OK, at $1 million with some teams with some room looking for a marketing dream, might be interested. But that brings up the question of the Devs reaching the floor. After 50% retained, I think they are $15 million under the cap before Seattle takes some more salary away. And our remaining RFAs are not going to eat to much into that. Puzzling. |

Its apparently both the cap hit and remaining salary that are split
They'll hit the floor, dont worry. Theres likely going to be multiple additions to the team in the coming weeks. They are looking to add a top 6 winger, one or even 2 more D, and a vet goalie to split with mac. Plus still need to give Yeezy, Kuok, and Merkley new deals |

Montreal might have a spot open with Weber maybe out long term if he has surgery. Montreal love PK, he's got history there.
PK CANT replace Weber, but thats their problem =) |
