Ovechkin is the clear choice.

I would select dillon. 6'4", 220LB, Tough, can really log minutes, is fearless, is only 30 and is signed for $3.9M/yr thru 2024. 654 games played, career +28, 623PIMs

Schultz is shy about contact and loses confidence in his shot. Has a rocket from the point but looks pass 1st on the PP (and everyone knows it) so the opponent can focus elsewhere on the PK or charge him and force him into a turn over.

This obviously won't happen, but imagine if they offered Ovi a max contract for 1 year with an agreement to trade him at the deadline anywhere he wanted at 50% salary retained.

That would sure sell some jerseys for them.

I wonder if Ovi not being signed is a good thing. I bet they likely have a contract done, but just aren't signing until after Seattle pick.

it saves an extra player for them

Unfortunately it's not the best person available but the best person based on the other bajillion people picked and their price/contract. Jensen? Sheary?

I suggest Chara. He was born the same year Seattle won their Stanley Cup.

Nice brain dead signing of Ovechkin today. With a flat cap Washington Is going to eat up 1 eighth of the teams pay roll for a broken down 37 year old. Wow! Mclellan Is an Irresponsible Idiot and Washington won't win another cup with Ovi.

You mean the guy who still puts up a PPG, mostly goals, and logs 20 minutes a night? Who's 35 (close to 36 if you want to be picky about it)? Umm, OK.
