Vegas did it with Fleury at age 32
- dashripdot

Cap hit was 5.7 when they got him until 2019. They resigned him for 7 in 2019. Big difference plus 2 years younger. Price was considered by many as slowing down, he has a good first 3 series in the playoffs and suddenly at age 34 he’s 25 year old Carey Price again.

And Vegas added to Fleury's 7 mil by stupidly bringing in Lehner to add to the cap hit. Neither comes .close to what Price has been able to do with a weaker defense

I’ll post it again, Price has had 1 season in the past 4 years with a save % over .909 and is 34 years old.

With all the interest in Georgie supposedly, maybe Seattle would be interested if they got additional 1sts in side deals to take certain players.

Id like to use Georgiev in a trade for Dvorak.

Eh, I think we have plenty of prospects to get that done.

Shame to see Gauthier unprotected but I get it. Felt the same about losing Lindberg but it was really nothing as I expect this expansion loss to be.

The market for Dvorak will be pretty active if its believed that ARI is willing to trade him.

Im thinking Dvorak + Crouse will cost us #15, Georgiev and Jones.

Apparently MIN is going for Dvorak hard.

On top of this Price has a significant knee injury and is expected to miss a good portion of next season. I highly doubt Seattle touches him.

There’s not many good defenseman exposed, my guess is they take Soucy.

And MTL's defense consisted of a hobbled Weber and Jeff Petry. If your netminder doesn't get help in front of him, what would you expect his save percentage to be?

On the left side theres definitely a lot more options that they dont have to go after Soucy.

You know the last year Hank had a GAA under 2.30 and a save % over .920? You guessed it, when he was 34. We were upset at his declining play at 8.5 million, I can’t imagine how upset we would’ve been at 10.5 million and coming off a significant knee injury that’s going to cause him to miss a good portion of the season

And he had a shyte defense playing in front of him, too. Can't look at stats in a vacuum and tell the real reason for what happened

No I look at it as he’s 34 years old signed until he’s 39 at 10.5 million. He’s not the same player he was during his prime.

Well now Montreal can pull a"Tampa" and LTIR Price all season and bring him back just in time for the playoffs!

Not sure how that would work for a goalie, certain guys like Hank played better the more they played.

The point is they can get an awful lot of value out of that $10.5 million for the season, unless the NHL closes the loophole.

Was thinking about that this morning. Nearly everyone wanted to keep Lindberg over Fast. Turned out okay.

Good luck Gauthier

Love if they can keep Goodrow. Exact kind of player they need

And what about the 4 years left after that? 10.5 million for a 37 38 39 year old goalie? Definitely the recipe for success.

I think they’ll be able to, the question is more what line will he be on? I dont think he can drive a line if we put him at 3C the more I think about it. I’m starting to think the best spot for him might be on the top line in the Fast/Blackwell role.
