I just had the worst dream
We will trade for PK Subban ($6mill) Seattle will eat $3 mill for one year
Give up our 1st
Seattle will take Niku - jjonah
That's not a dream - that's a nightmare! |

starting to lean a little off the board with the next pick, any thoughts on Morrow or Pert? both seem to be higher risk at this point but also could be high reward - Ross77
Olausson! |
|
|

I like Morrow a lot actually, Duke, Olausson, Dean and Chayka
Small sample size for games played this year so crapshoot levels are high! - jjonah
Seems like that kid Dean's stock is rising.

For anyone on Twitter Lebrun is breaking my story, and kudos to 2.0 in here for having the closest guess.
Let’s all pray this doesn’t come to fruition. |

I would be very happy with Ristolainen. I think he would work out great. All players get better once they leave Buffalo. Ristolainen will get over 60 points playing on our power play next year and don't forget he is big and strong.
This is a deal I would give Chevy props for depending on what he gives up. Ristolainen is a great buy low option too. |

So are you talking Heinola and Berdin for Risto? Or is a 1st included/inserted instead of Heinola?
Risto for only one more year before UFA?

What's 1 year of Risto even worth in trade a 2nd and Kovacevic?
I don't see the big deal. The Jets gave up the 3rd most and 4th most scoring chances the past 2 years it's not going to be much worse with Risto. Best case scenario the Jets lose with him and Maurice gets the boot faster.
Though I'd rather see the Jets get Miller cheap if Seattle doesn't take him. |

I agree with this - AS LONG AS Risto is signed for more than only one more year. If he isn't signed for only one more year, I would veto the deal if I could.

You don’t give up assets for a pending UFA when there are 10 D about to become UFA’s in one week who are all better, most, significantly better!!!
Ristolainen can’t play D, he has been a leagues worst defence man for allowing high danger chances his entire career, which just so happens to be our worst quality. We already have a top 5 or top 10 power play. There is no possible way, any benefit he brings to our power play will out weight the deficit he causes in our end.
The absolute only positive to take from this, is it will end Chevy’s and Maurice’s tenure here much faster.
McCabe, Oleksiak, Larson, Savard, Murray. Please , anyone of these can help soooooo much more than Ristolainen!!! And we are going to get in a bidding war for him yet????? Wow!!!!

Most importantly, Ristolainen is 6”4 and weighs 221 lbs. He’s every Jets fans dream of having a BIG defenseman. |

I don’t know the specifics on players, prospects or picks just know that the ask has been high and the Jets are far down the road on this and not walking away!!
Like Rexy said, I wouldn’t take this guy at 50% salary retained and free. I don’t want him. |

The fact that there is a bidding war for Ristolainen just shows how much NHL GM’s think of him. Let me be the first to welcome Ristolainen to Winnipeg, which by the way is one of the 100 best places on the planet.

It only takes two idiots to make a bidding war. So disappointed we are one of those idiots |

The Buffalo blog predicts a 2nd and 3rd pick from different years maybe a late 1st instead.
I'm sure it would be less then the two 2nds Colorado gave up for Toews a year ago

Both Bergevin and Chevelallseasonoff were executives for the mighty Blackhawks championship teams. I am sure they are not complete idiots. |

Like I said before, unless Risto is extended, there is zero chance I would do this.
Risto? I know how you feel, felt the same way, but watched him a few games the last year or so, and thought he was much improved. Seemed to have developed a mean streak in front of the net for one thing. I would now be good with him - depending on the price of course.
But I can understand how fans are down on him, used to be the same.

Surprisingly, we agree! That's maybe a first?

Ristolainen at a decent price I’d take for sure and on a 1 year deal. He has been in the abyss of western New York and has been partnered with who? On what kind of team?
If the price is reasonable he may be a very pleasant surprise.
2023 conditional 3rd (becomes 2nd if blah blah) for Risto
Buffalo starts asking for a 1st rd pick or a prospect it’s a NO |

Fine Ultimate, I’ll compromise,
Stanley, Niku and 3rd rounder for Ristolainen and Reinhardt |

How can you say no to a 6”4 200+ lbs. defenseman? That’s just nuts, especially one that can put up 60 points plus. This core we have now cannot wait for this 1st rounder to develop and we need to be in win now mode! |

I love Logan Stanley and I do think Sami Niku has been misused here in Winnipeg. This is a deal I would reluctantly do. Reinhardt and Ristolainen would do wonders on our roster. |

Buffalo never ever makes that deal, that package alone doesn't get you Reinhart nevermind adding Ristolainen, doubt it'd get Ristolainen alone either.
Depending what the ask is for Ristolainen he might be an alright addition, really think the fancy stat crowd blows things WAY out of proportion with guys one way or the other, if the analytics say a guy is good he's one of the best in the league no matter what the eye test or the players point totals are and if the analytics say he's bad then he's one of the worst players in the league and there's no debate about it whatsoever. |
