What part of the right combination of size with skill is needed?
The point has been from the start

21 years 42 teams in the finals
D has averaged 6’3” 220 lbs”

The teams come and go (ducks are on this list btw)

Even more simply for you….if the Jets have four 6’ and under D they have no chance in the playoffs

I guess especially against guys like 5”7 Cole Caufield, we definitely need all the size we can get! Can’t forget about 5”9 Brendan Gallagher. And also 5”11 Nick Suzuki.

Sounds like they are building an impressive D-core in Seattle . . . 2-4 won't be there opening night. Fingers crossed that the Jets can find a way to extract one of them at a price that's palatable.

Who should we go after from the Kraken, boys? (and girls?)

Is that a real take? Not sure what forwards have to do with the trend of big D men.

Last time I checked the TB D was pretty effective against MTL forwards, all of them.

I guess Victor Hedman’s are a dime a dozen in the NHL. The trend has also been to get speedier and faster forwards in the NHL, regardless of size. I do not really see the need for the defencemen to almost be a foot taller than the forwards they play against.

No red line rule
No touch icing
Crack down on interference and a litany of soft hooking and slashing calls

That’s what has made room for smaller forwards and it’s a great thing. Tons of skill came into the game

Does Caufield want to go 1 on 1 against Heinola or Josh Manson?

So what you are saying is that Chevy made a poor draft choice because Heinola is small.

Lol this is exhausting

Of course not, the average is 6’3”

Tory Krug won the cup in 2013 he’s 5’9” and a key part of that win.

Average isn’t a difficult concept

No takers cuz we're in love with the size debate, so I'll just quote my own post! . . .

To Winnipeg: D Lauzon, F True

To Seattle: F Torgesson, D Chisholm, '22 3rd Round pick

Too rich? Not enough?? Is there a preferable defender you'd like???

Included True so Ehlers could play with his cousin (some nights). Thought about adding Tanev with salary retained, but as much as I like Tanev, would prefer Vesalainen, Gustafsson, and Harkins to get an opportunity.

You asked me a defined question of who I would rather have defending Camfield. Where did you mention average size in your scenario?

Could the Jets deal Kraken signed Larsson 4x$4 only to trade him to Jets?

Not likely. It sours other UFA's on wanting to sign with Seattle if they might just be used as trade bait to a team they have less interest in. Too bad, though. Larsson seemed a good fit, IMO.

There is a period where recently signed UFA's can't be dealt isn't there?

What, like after Xmas or something? I assume this would pertain to the Krakens as well.

Quoting myself, again! Lol

It seems inevitable that Seattle will leverage some of that pretty impressive defense capital they selected for picks/prospects or scoring help, and if Winnipeg isn't in kn ant of those convos it will be very disappointing.

Lauzon would be if significant interest to me. (Oleksiak and Larsson, too . . . but as mentioned, trading UFA's tpo quickly is either bad juju or perhaps even prohibited)

Borgen, too, would be a player I'd like, but he may be more of a young Tucker Poolman-type, and as he's waiver eligible, it might be tough if he can't make the Maurice list!

One (or both!?!) of the Fleury brothers, too, would be nice, but you have to think those selections were very intentional, and Francus' familiarity with Haydn is well known.

Thoughts?

Agree I should have said it would be with the player and agent on board with it. Not a sign and then out the door.

Jets news of any kind is silent!

Chev probably bought an island cottage on
Lake of the Woods so he know there was no way he could be contacted by phone call, text, email or even a good ol fax machine.. 😃

I really don't see any Krahen d-man that jumps out to me (except Giordano) that would be a significant improvement - barring the signed UFA's which I believe are off limits.

More likely UFA or trade to upgrade our d - probably trade IMO.

I don't mind any of those guys but is a Lauzon or H.Fleury any better then Heinola, Samberg or Stanley, is C.Fleury or Borgen any better then Poolman or the Jets RHD prospects like Kovacevic or Gawanke?

I don't expect a Hamilton or Pietrangelo type addition on the backend but if they do add a guy via trade or free agency I think said dman needs to be a clear cut improvement over the majority of the Jets dmen, a legit top 4 dman.

And are we fine with the price to acquire the legit top 4 dman? And until Winnipeg lands a big UFA that everyone wants, I can't be bothered to entertain the possibility. We're talking trade here.
