I'm guessing Ronnee Frances is busy today taking advantage of his exclusive window to negotiate with UFAs. If I was Frances I'd be making the following calls today...

Gaberiel Landiscog
Alec Ovetchkin
Ryan Sutter
Brandon Suter
Zack Parizee
Dugee Hamylton
Brandon Sod

Frances could really build a solid roster just from signing a bunch of UFAs this week. Too bad Barklye Gaudreau is off the market.

Wonder if Cary Pryce will be making an appearance on “The Pryce Is Write”

Ok…so I have talked to a TON of people of the feeling out there is evolving.. The players I know who know Price are 100% silent.

I wonder if this means Ek reached out to a bunch of players who know Price and none of them responded. Or did they respond and say they can't speak on the subject? Because those are two different things. Might be helpful to clarify.

Ek I'm also curious what some of the GMs have been telling you. Do any of them know what Ronnee Frances is going to do? Do they agree this is all insane?

2 goals in 44 games, weak defensively and mentally weak
- TheGame316

Yup, bad seasons happen. 23 assists in 44 games during his worst season ever. He’s always good for at least 50 points and was one of the best forwards for Montreal as recently as the bubble tournament.

I’m not saying he’s a superstar or anything, but your statement about him is absurdly false.

This statement about the quality of Drouin’s play is not even remotely true.

Why no Drouin in the playoffs?

Well we always knew Ek talked to all the GMs daily. I’m impressed to find out he has so many players personal numbers and called them up to ask about Price.

Well, if the Habs lose Price they will be crying more than anybody when they watch Allen play 55 games a season. Montreal fans better pray Seattle does not take #31.

So if they lose Price, this means Allen must play 55 games? What if they, I don't know, signed or acquired another goalie? For example, maybe they look at someone like Grubauer or Ullmark as a 1A to Allen? Maybe they bring in a guy like Bernier or Raanta on a short deal, knowing that they won't contend without Weber, and buy a little more time to see what they have in Primeau and give their other kids more time to develop.

Or just play Allen 55 times.

Washington state does not have a personal income tax. The tax rate in Quebec is 54% above $200k or so.

Price would be getting a substantial raise.

Not that it matter at all but 4 hrs south of Seattle is definitely not Seattle, his wife is from kennewick Washington same place price played in the WHL for the Tri City Americans. Yes it would be a lot closer to home for both of them.

Wow.

This is a first.

I agree with Ek completely.

I can't imagine turning down Price in this, or any expansion draft after that Stanley Cup Finals performance.

I think the team that doesn't get Price will regret is more despite his brutal contract.

How so?

Seattle is NOT gonna compete for the Cup while Price is still good.
Then they have a 10.5M anchor preventing them from acquiring better players to improve the team.
And his NMC means they can't trade him.

Again, if Montreal finishes 5th instead of 4th this conversation isn't happening. If Tavares doesn't get hurt and Toronto wins instead of losing in 7 this conversation isn't happening. Price would be just another brutal contract sitting alongside Duchene, Bobrovsky, Tarasenko, Voracek, etc...But Price gets hot for a few weeks and suddenly a bunch of emotional fans and media think Montreal needs to keep him. Without Weber next year this roster probably misses the playoffs anyway. Enjoy your 34-year old, injury-prone goalie with a $10.5M cap hit, and a NMC. What's insane is the media who can't see it...

Oddly enough, from what I understand, that has been the annual best selling title in the greater Toronto fantasy bookstores during the month of May.

I don't think this is a big conspiracy. Price said he was willing to waive his NMC, and if I'm Marc Bergevin I am all over that opportunity. Being a GM in the NHL - it doesn't last forever. Bergevin himself is an example of (as close to) a forever GM as you can imagine. Those guys don't stick around in a volatile market like Montreal if they aren't willing to rock the boat. Price 'almost single handedly got you to the Stanley Cup' is the *best* selling pitch you will ever have for that chaos contract. I think Vasilevsky has a bad contract - goalies are *never* worth more than 7M per on a long term contract. Price's premium costs Montreal a reasonable priced top end goalie plus a potential second liner every year he's under contract.

You look at a David Poile who has been with the Preds forever - now there's a GM with respect and longevity that rarely creates waves. His draft protect list is basically the opposite of Bergevin's - f my forwards, I know where our strength is. Saying Bergevin has 'made the ultimate gamble' here is ridiculous. He's putting his over priced long term commitments on the line - Drouin, Weber, Price It's the same as Dorion putting Murray up - fine player, overpaid, I get it looks bad on me. But please, take them. I don't think it'll work, but good on MB for trying.

No mention of the Prokop announcement? None of your bloggers allowed to mention it either?

I understand it's a touchy situation, but you'd think at least 1 would touch it. It would gain a poop load of hits at least.

I love Carey Price he is a great person. I think maybe he is ready to Move on from Montreal so he made this play. If I was Francis I would grab him.

What's touchy about it? You've got human beings who accept everyone for who they are, and then you've got cavemen -- who we also accept for who they are.
