That’s a garbage roster. Francis said they want to be competitive so not selecting a guy who can center the number one line makes your roster seem unlikely. |

*While it's a risk that he wouldn't sign, I'd take him just to mess with the Habs' ongoing negotiations with him and try to sell him on a guaranteed top-6 role in Seattle. |

Too many unknowns to start out with. Being a Sabres fan, taking Borgen over Girgensons is odd. Girgensons fits what you yourself are looking for Resposible two way players. He’s still young and can produce over someone like Kahun or Gambrell. And 5 GOALIES???? You say to flip and gain capital but you don’t get much of anything in capital with backup goalies. Most teams are looking for that veteran backup on the cheap to help with their younger goalies ex Anderson, Halak, Hutton (even though he was a bust). Love the Eberle pick but you left more on the table than you should have if you want to be competitive out of the gate. Right now this team is at most a .500 at best team. Francis won’t let that happen. |

I hope they pick Borgen. Can't see him making the NHL roster and will need waivers to get to the AHL. Guess who has first option on waivers, the Sabres. |

Actually Habs didn’t protect him and there’s a reason. He’s selling his house and won’t be back to MTL. so there’s no messing haha

Why is this the second time I've seen someone take Rubtsov from the Flyers? Was it because you saw 1st round pick? German literally has zero value as an asset and will be lucky to be playing regularly in the AHL, might as well forfeit the Flyer pick instead.

Played around on CapFriendly and put this team together:
Niederreiter - Johansen - Tarasenko
Killorn - Domi - Donskoi
Bjugstad - Namestnikov - Tanev
Appleton - Tierny - Eakin
Extra forawrds: Nieto, Gauthier, Kero, Frk, Kahun
Giordano - De Haan
Shattenkirk - Lauzon
Gostibehere - Hickey
Extra defencemen: Kulak, Dermott, Lyubushkin, Bowey
Dreidger
Vanecek
Extra goalie: Wedgewood

Because the other options are costly (JVR, Voracek, Ghost), bad (Braun, Hagg, Twarynski, Bunnaman), or didn't have a 2021-22 contract (the rest). Rubtsov fulfills the contract criteria and maintains cap flexibility while also potentially being another C for the AHL team.
In short, it's pretty much a throwaway pick. |

Honestly if Francis selected Rubtsov I would shrug then laugh. If he wanted someone cheap and could send down then Twarynski (Depth forward, motor) or Bunnaman (Depth, faceoffs). The best bet that would fall in the cheap category would be Sandström, who I believe could still become a pretty decent starter in the NHL or worst case be a great call up.

If it weren't for the requirement of 20 2021-22 contracts, I might consider others more. The former two could give some toughness but I'm not stressed about the minor gap between them and Rubtsov. As for the goalie, sure, it's a throwaway pick. Morin would probably be the next on my list if only because of his size. |

You have to be a huge Flyer fan, that would be a dream scenario and I would literally kiss Ron Francis hiney hole, full pucker, if he did those moves.

If this exercise involved trades, I'd extort the Flyers to get Voracek w/ cap retained and picks in return. What kind of deal would you make to move Voracek with something around 2mil retained? |

Not a Flyer fan, just looking to make the best top 6 I can with what is there. I noted, some arent contracts I would want, but when looking at what is available, and the term, if I was Francis, I am going to take Voracek.
I can just see Philly getting another Dman, and Zadorov making 3 mil plus would be the odd man out in Seattle. Zadorov could be traded anywhere for mid round picks. |

Have to say, I was unimpressed with this roster, I think the Kraken could easily do better and be competitive off the bat with some of the available players. |

Definitely not a 1st rounder or high end prospect. Fletcher has already stated he will not sweeten the pot that much to take someone, it would be better off to keep him. |

Chris Dreidger? He's 27, Drafted about 9 years ago, Only 38 games total In the NHL, No longer a prospect closer to a AHL All Star. Seattle will be very disappointed In they choose him based on an Incredibly small pro sample size. Don't drink the koolaid. |

Disagree with a few of these selections. But a lot of good choices IMO.
I don’t think there is any way they take ADA. |

They aren’t taking a bunch of old cap dumps without getting additional assets. |

Remember than you don't need 30 guys on your roster. There will be a handful of picks that are just random AHL fodder, ideally with expiring contracts to give you max flexibility. |
