Kurtis MacDermid is a great pick. He’s a bodyguard that can go toe to toe with guys like Reaves
- Nucker101

Nice pick, he is back to my list. Needs to take Kurtis Gabriel now.

Winnipeg Jets will lose Mason Appleton to the Kraken.

Good fourth line player

- VANTEL

So many D to choose I can see that pick.

Agreed

I see a mediocre team so far

Appear to be taking a more long-term approach - clearly not as many deals available from other GMs this go around.

I liked the trade for Edmonton, at that time. I take a solid defender over a one dimensional offensive player, all day long.
If I had my way, I would have a roster of 23 defensive specialists.😁

Francis was pretty clear about capspace being very important. He will be very busy this off-season.

I really hope Canucks get Hyman . I don't expect a lot of goals by him but instead a lot of tenacity and a solid two way game . That would be a very good top 9 .

When I see rosters set up with Highmore Zack Roussel Hawyrkluk Motte I face palm. God I hope they are all gone.

- VANTEL

Only like Motte the rest can go the KHL farm team.

Can't understand why Larsson signs that deal at this point in time.

I get he wants out of EDM, but surely he could have fielded better offers during free agency?

Hell, even if he absolutetly only wanted to play and live in Seattle, he could have used the leverage of other deals to up his paltry $4M offer??? And at four years, that essentially takes him straight past his prime and into his decline, meaning it could very well be his last contract in the league.

Looks like he's got a terrible (frank)ing agent.

JB has compromising pictures of Larsson and leaked them to Seattle...3D chess

I don't think there's that many Sutters to choose from.

Stevens Daneyko and Niedermayer were an awesome trio, to go along with one of the best goalies ever.

Motte is a really good player for a bottom team.

Francis isn't getting sucked into bad contracts with term

Johanson, duchene, domi. Tarasenko

Hes going to have cap space by the end of the expansion draft to make moves.

Some interesting picks by Seattle, if the leaks are true, gonna be a tough team to play against. Their defence is already better than the Canucks.

San Jose offered the same draft list as the canucks did in 2017. They protected dahlen ffs lol. They weren't getting a good player from them anyway

He probably wasn’t getting the upper hand in pre-expansion draft negotiations so now he’ll have it with tons of cap space with teams looking to get rid of money.

A lot of people glossing over that. They're not taking on the bigger contracts so they can take runs at UFAs and trades. They'll be a good team

yup. from the picks being leaked, jb's original words come to mind, "meat and potatoes."

seattle seems like it will be a tough physical team to play against.

also, as codes alluded to (a couple of posts after yours), francis seems to be setting up a team with a lot of cap flexibility. he's not taking on big contracts (right now) so it will be interesting to see what his plan is for free agency this summer and next year.

pure speculation on my part but i could see him saving a lot of cap for next year. have the inaugral season be a success meaning that the fans will be wild and the team will have some success (but not LVK type). once the players around the league see how great a place it is, they'll start going after the big guns in free agency. sort of like the seattle sounders model in mls.
