I don't hold any ill will towards Voracek. It's a strictly business decision. Need to start over a tad. Tarasenko is a high risk high reward maneuver.

Absolutely right about the defense. Especially if a defenseman is taken.

- Pelle31Forever

For sure, and Voracek understood that based on the reports that they had a very civil meeting about him being unprotected. I also think if Voracek stays he’ll have a solid year and he becomes more movable next offseason.

And why didn't the Preds or Ellis correct them, sport? And how exactly would you have verified it under the NHL injury report rule and the HIPAA protocols?
- PT21

He literally did exactly this in his first press conference that Bill kindly put up for us to view. Read the transcript of Ellis correcting the media and saying wtf are you guys even talking about basically. Media is trash and has zero standards

Just read the Patrick transcript from his first interview since being traded. Can anyone answer why he wanted out of here so badly?! Seriously, no BS response because it seems to me that the Flyers supported him in every medical way possible and he seems to be projecting like he wanted out by any means necessary for whatever reason. Either he is an ungrateful, entitled little wiener or he had some sort of falling out with the franchise for whatever reason.

Idk, he never showed any type of drive with the Flyers. Always was just a monotone, emotionless guy pretty much. Didn't put much effort in off or on the ice for the Flyers. I feel like he just was always used to succeeding his whole life and didn't adapt to the struggles of the NHL well and he can't take full responsibility for it. I couldn't care less really how he feels.

[quote=hereticpride]My final ED guess is Ghost or Hagg. Ghost, though not consistent, offers a talent that no other team is really exposing. Hagg on the other hand is probably our cheapest/most serviceable offering.

I don’t think Jake or JVR are getting picked without other teams getting involved.
My pick all along has been Hagg...dont think Hakstol is enamored with Ghost and Deangelo is a better version of Ghost with same salary and 1 less year of term. the baggage is the question. Also dont see Hakstol look to do any favors to Flyers on salary cap.

I've mentally prepared myself for Ghost or Haag but I do think JVR or Jake are reasonably possible.
- Pelle31Forever

Jake 0%..JVR 25%..no one is going to want Jake without at least 3-3.5M in salary retention or #1 pick attached. Maybe both

900K 2years for Raffl and Jake for 6 M ( 2.15 M retention ) and let them play with a big Center I can think of a worst 3rd line

I believe it is gonna be Jake or JVR. Kraken are gonna be starved for offense and they are likely to take one of the two. Although, a 3 way for one of those involving Tarasenko is an intriguing possibility. Ghost seems to be a pariah throughout the league so I don’t see it.

If Francis can’t swing some deals, he could end up with Giordano and DeMelo as a 1st pair. You would think with Hakstol’s rep for roster building, they can do better than that.

What information do you have that Gostisbehere seems to he a pariah throughout the league?

There's been a lot of Rubstov chatter online. TSN predicting he's the one going to be selected. I hope this isn't true. Seattle is taking a lot of players, they don't all need to be starters.

Sandtrum may be a better pick if going after potential. Though many goalies available.

The media really annoys the piss out of me. They reported this shoulder thing like it was gospel. In typical media fashion, they failed to actually investigate anything, took the word of some "source" somewhere, and ran with it.

Its a wonder anyone trusts them for ANY reason. I certainly don't.
-MBFlyresfan

I don't usually defined the media, but in this case when you are trying to report injuries, the teams do not really release that information to you and try to keep it completely in house. So all you know is upper body injury for example, so that invites speculation, i.e. a concussion, or a shoulder. I guess the knuckle in part of the upper body, but its not a common hockey injury, or as common as a shoulder or concussion. So though I understand why teams want to keep injury details in-house to protect the players, it does invite speculation, as was the case here.

Haag is barely an NHL defenseman with ZERO upside, he will not be selected. It will be either Ghost or JVR, and I think it will be JVR.

It won't matter, Ghost is gone as is Jake, whether they are selected in the ED or not.

Hakstol has a rep for roster building? Really? I know he was a college coach, but in his time with the Flyers I don't think he built much a reputation in general, especially around roster building.

But up until Ellis said otherwise, it was reported as FACT. That is an important distinction. They specifically said it was the shoulder and that he had had surgery. They flat out made it up.

The media has become an echo chamber and it doesn't just apply to sports.

Possibly, or they got wrong information from their sources, who were speculating based on the little info those sources got from the teams.

So burden yourself with a bad contract instead of getting a cheap, serviceable 3rd pair guy? Don’t be shocked if it happens is all I’m saying.

Some folks struggle to comprehend that if they don’t like what they are looking at they will take a lesser contract for a plug depth role. Could even flip him to a contender at the deadline for depth, obviously won’t amount to much but.

That is just it. Who were these sources? I would bet money that the "source" was a reporter speculating (as you said) and they all just did this confirmation circle jerk never bothering to actually confirm anything.

I wouldnt care if they reported it as "possible shoulder injury", "possible surgery".......

But they reported that he had surgery.

Yes its just an athlete, but in the larger picture, the media does this kind of thing all the time with actual IMPORTANT things.

I really like Jake but this hasn’t worked out and we need to change things up. I hope they take him and we can indeed get a shoot first scorer like a healthy tarasenko. I just hope that we don’t give up too many more of our young players or picks. I’d like to get a real look at frost at 3C.

Wonder who chuck adds on d to round it out.

Regardless, there are exciting times. The real team building happens at the draft and the ED adds to that fun IMO.
