I still think Ghost is movable….maybe even JVR if need be, but that might involve some retention.

Edit: I know that word “retention” isn’t a popular one…lol

- landros 2

They made Ghost available how many times now? He’s here unless they eat money imo.

My idea of a culture change is going to take place with the growth of young players. I want to win. Don't care what the culture is when they do win.
- MJL

I see what you’re saying but the culture has been that of an underachiever. Sometimes a change of chemistry is needed to progress and give the young players the right atmosphere to grow. It all sounds very nebulous I know but in hockey that’s very important. The chemistry in the room between the players is key.

Would not be surprised to see TK moved for space / 2RD help
- Bayareaflyer

Man I would hate that move. I think its stupid to cut bait on TK. If they want to help the 2nd d pair then look elsewhere for a trade or signs decent ufa and jettison someone to make space.

I still think some sort of Jake trade is worked out. Just hope we don’t retain too much money or give up too much to do it.

Where can you send them that you wouldn't have to eat a problem in return?

Not that this matters at all, but Button had the Flyers taking Othmann in his entry draft mock.

id like 2 more changes Another D and forward. I'Ve said all along i think they need a culture change. 4-5 new starters would be a good start
- bradster

If they move any significant money I’d be interested in wennberg for the third line.

I’d be ok with this depending on what the moves are obviously. I also think this is closer to chucks plan than staying pat now that we have Ellis.

my idea of culture change is getting rid of the guys that dont play the right way. And not setting a bad example to the kids coming up

I still get the sense Fletch isn’t quite done yet. We will need another goalie for sure. I still think there’s a bit more, then just that.

I’ve personally seen enough of the G Jake Coots show. We know that core needs significantly more supporting help than they’ve got.

I am wondering how Ellis will adapt to being on the ice with a bunch of forwards and a partner Dman who are on average significantly worse defensively than their counterparts in Nashville (except Couts for Johansen, ofc).
- PT21

our forwards are better than nashvilles. now i assume youll hit me up with stats lol.

I just don't see it as a culture issue. Now if we want to talk chemistry and having the right mix of players then I agree. Look, things went sideways last year but not because of a culture issue. They just need to get better and get a better mix of complimentary players. That will take care of the "culture".

Defensively. Forsberg, Arviddson, Granlund, Duchene are good 2 way players. Collectively, their forwards are better 2 way players than our forwards to me.

Elis may not be used to having his wingers play like say TK, JVR and Voracek.

All eye test lazy speculation.

By my rule of thumb I would guess Jake is a 4.5-4.75 m player now given the age, points and years remaining. So, either we:

1. Trade $ for $
2. Hold back about $3.5m
3. Part with a first rounder AND 1 more decent prospect to bring about a trade.

or of course some combination of 2 and 3.

A change to the core as in a trade of Jake I think will go a long way. I’d be fine with maybe 3 more moves. Backup goalie, 2nd pair d and say a hockey trade of Jake. That’s what’s so intriguing about tarasenko if he’s healthy. The change of scenery may help both and their new teams.

LOL. Arvidsson is no longer there. Duchene is not someone I would label a good two way player. He's on the same level as Voracek.

Is Ellis as a defenseman, not going to play with a center? Couturier, Hayes, Laughton, Lindblom and Giroux most of the time are responsible two way players. How does the 4 players you listed from Nashville, one of which is no longer there, rank better than those I listed on the Flyers?

If you look closely at the top right with one eye closed and quickly reverse open and closed eye and move down to bottom left quadrant you will see exactly what I mean

I get it. Simply put they haven’t led the team to any success. I think g and coots are staying for now but from all I’m hearing Jake will be gone. I’ll say it again.. I like Jake. Decent player but time to shake this party up and start to move toward contention

I love the idea of trading a playmaker for a shooter. Just don't know about Tarasenko's health. Now see that's changing the mix of the team. Not a culture change. They need to make hockey moves. This "culture" issue is overblown.

Legit and natural shooter. Has a good feel for hitting the corners, getting goalie moving one way then shooting the other way.

If selected then Fletcher will have grabbed 2 shooters in the 1st round the last 2 drafts.

What I’m talking about is mixing the chemistry which enables winning and would then change the culture of underachieving which I’m some aspects can be pinned on the core. We always seem to find a way to come up small. Maybe it’s the chemistry as you mention but maybe it’s more.
