I have a pretty good feeling about it. We shall see. Vegas made what, 10 side deals last time? None of which were announced until the actual expansion draft. Why are people so fast to forget?? - Gnrlbot
That’s fine. I’m not going to say you’re wrong because I have no idea.
But I just don’t see it. For what? |

You're going to have to explain this one to me. - MJL
They’ve just leaked the minor part of some of these selections.
I already gave an example but will give another.
‘The Flyers trade JVR with 50% salary retained to Seattle. In exchange Seattle takes Twarynski in the expansion draft’ |

Gotta explain your thinking on this one.
Seattle is induced by the Flyers to only take Carsen AND eat one of the Flyers' big contracts? What do they get out of it? Giroux's first born child? A solid gold life size statue of Pat Maroon? - Tomahawk
That’s my argument. “Here, take a crappy player and in return take a player we desperately don’t want to pay anymore. Ok? Thanks.” |

Lol. It makes absolutely no sense for Seattle to work out a deal where they end up selecting CT. None. - hereticpride
Gotta admit it would be hilarious if the guys correct…. |

Or just take whoever and then do the salary-retained trade separately after the trade freeze lifts? |

Doesn't make sense to me. So we would be trading JVR and basically Twarynski in exchange for 3.5M of cap space? That's a stretch. What is even a bigger stretch is why would Seattle do that?

I think people are just so disappointed that it didn’t break how they really really hoped it would and are now trying to talk themselves into a way they can still easily unload one of these contracts.
Btw, the three contracts we are talking about, the ones we desperately want the team to be rid of, are all Hextall contracts. |

I’m not saying those are the exact parameters of a deal. Just that it could be something like that. The big prize in this specific scenario for Seattle would obviously be getting JVR at reduced cap. |

"We" shouldn't be desperately wanting the team to be rid of them.

As others are pointing out, there is not much connection between the selection of Twarynski in ED and the rest of what you propose. For either side. |

I was actually in favour of not adding any sweetners to get rid of the big 3. Would rather just ride it out with them. Unfortunately, I don’t think that’s how it’s going to go. |

Here is the something like that I would think it would be. Seattle takes Twarynski. End of story. Their choice. Now in separate talks, Seattle says if you want us to take Voracek or JVR in a trade, you retain 50% and you give us a 1st round pick. We'll give you a 5th round pick.

Only thing that makes sense as far as trades go would be if CF gave Seattle something not to take one of the other exposed guys, like Braun, Hagg or Sandstrom.
Otherwise, the situation doesn't fit the profile of an induced selection. |

It makes sense there has to be more when you think of it, Carsen T is not an NHL player and doesn't even have trade value. I just hope the salary the Flyers cover is minimal, like under $2M. Given the Flyers let it leak they want to part ways with Jake, its clear they must have something in place, because you just don't do that to a player like Jake, who for all his faults is a pretty stand up guy. |
