I understand changing the mix and adding a pure scorer rather than a setup guy. But it’s clear there are rose colored glasses on a lot of Flyers fans looking at Tarasenko as a player today. He has played 34 games the last two seasons and could be completely washed. |

They are signing the d from Dallas so they will not need a d - wcorvette
It's not just who they need, it's who they can flip immediately or down the road. D are hard to come by and the affordable ones will be very desirable to other clubs.
People need to stop thinking of expansion as the Kraken's only opportunity to pick up good players. 2/3 of the league is looking to dump salary. Trade and UFA have way more high-end quality available than the actual draft. The expansion draft is all about building up a base of assets that the Kraken can use to facilitate deals. |

Vegas drafted a ton of D last go around and did exactly that. |

How long is it going to take the Kraken to be better than the Flyers? Prob by 11pm tonight. - PLindbergh31
Well, when you make ridiculously stupid and overly favorable expansion rules, it makes sense.
I don’t know if it was you who said this, but someone did. It is a right of passage for expansion team to stink for a couple of years. It’s why I hate Vegas. |

A whole lot of excitement over a huge question mark in Tarasenko for some reason. I don’t get it at all. Heads are in the sand on this one. - StepfordSam
Let me try to spell it out for you.
1) we need a sniper, tarasenko fits that bill
2) we have told Jake we are moving on from him whether he gets selected or not.
3) tarasenko wants to leave, so this isn’t the blues trying to move an injured player. He’s apparently healthy and doesn’t trust them so they aren’t trading with any leverage here.
4) they are both high cap hits, but tarasenko is off the books 1 year earlier.
5) we’ve made no progress with Jake, can’t keep doing the same thing over and over again |

All good points. Doesn’t answer if Tarasenko is totally finished as a high end player, however. |

That is just it. Who were these sources? I would bet money that the "source" was a reporter speculating (as you said) and they all just did this confirmation circle jerk never bothering to actually confirm anything.
I wouldnt care if they reported it as "possible shoulder injury", "possible surgery".......
But they reported that he had surgery.
Yes its just an athlete, but in the larger picture, the media does this kind of thing all the time with actual IMPORTANT things. - MBFlyerfan
Please explain how you would ever be able to prove true or false on such a bet |

Not confident that they'll take Ghost tho.
I just don't see Seattle taking any expensive contracts unless they're given a strong incentive to.
Don't wanna make a deal? They'll be happy to take your young/cheap players like Cal Foote or Rubstov. They don't need your Tyler Johnsons, Ghosts and JVRs to be competitive. They have options. |

Honestly, even if we assume he’s finished - the extra year off the contract and just simply not having Jake in the mix anymore is worth the risk. If he’s done, put him on LTIR and go spend the money elsewhere. Can’t put Jake on LTIR if’s he’s always healthy |

Or you could look at it this way. They gave up one guy that reportedly told the Flyers he wanted out and a young defenseman. It’s not like the guy they got is 36. He literally just turned 30. They kept every single one of their prospects and they still have all their picks available.
So what is the complaint? What is the problem? I’ve seen nothing that says the Flyers are trading their future. All they’ve talked about is keeping their prospects and only trading their #1 for a player that will be here for years.
Had they not made this trade and came back relying on Patrick and Myers to bounce back, the CRYING in here for not changing the team would be at an all time high. - Flyers1218
At least 4 people have written what the problem is/was. MJL, Tomahawk, Dubc55, myself....
I understand that most of you disagree. But I don't understand why someone will ask what the beef if. |

I wasn’t implying they’d take ghost, more meant of a Dman they might be able to flip for an asset. Hagg fits that bill, the asset might not be much but it’s better than taking a big contract on a middling player. Like you said, they have a ton of options. |

I mean that always made the most sense.
Also seeing McCann from the Leafs, Tanev from the Pens, Dunn from the Blues, and no Carey Price from Montreal. |

Yes I had to pay my student loans back… it’s a right of passage so my kids should have to too.
I love that teams don’t have to suck for a decade coming into league. Better for the fans and the league as a whole. |

That's why drafting Hagg or Braun are still possible.
Cheap depth defensemen on expiring contracts have value.
There are always teams looking for depth on defense for a playoff run.
Just look at Montreal picking up Gustafsson. |

Seattle not taking Tarasenko. - Flyers1218
I love the idea of the deal. The problem is we are expecting Seattle to help us. While the Tarasenko deal does have advantages for everyone involved, I just think it would require Seattle to do too much just for 2nd round pick. They would have to be ok with having Voracek and he just doesn’t seem to be the type of player being taken on expansion - even as part of a deal. |

Why would Fletcher need to follow what Hextall did? I would bet ownership wanted something different, otherwise Hextall would still be here. I do agree that if Chuck is going to move this team to a win now approach, he has to carve out some dead weight. - JW98FlyerFan
Well because it’s as simple as this. Bob Clarke was a guy who was willing to sacrifice the future for big names, stars and favoring big and tough players. Obviously he didn’t adjust to the new NHL accordingly, which led to him stepping down. Holmgren was probably as active as Fletcher. I think they’re are similar traits here. I don’t understand the stopgap of Hextall, just to go back to what we were doing prior to Hextall. |

Again, why would the Kraken take a player that cannot even play good in the AHL?? Francis is not picking Rubstov, this is just funny! |

We get it you don’t like Hagg. Truth is he is a solid defenseman that Hakstol is familiar with and I wouldn’t be surprised if they take him with no other deal involved. |
