Well because it’s as simple as this. Bob Clarke was a guy who was willing to sacrifice the future for big names, stars and favoring big and tough players. Obviously he didn’t adjust to the new NHL accordingly, which led to him stepping down. Holmgren was probably as active as Fletcher. I think they’re are similar traits here. I don’t understand the stopgap of Hextall, just to go back to what we were doing prior to Hextall. - SuperSchennBros
This makes literally zero sense , if we were still following the hextall method we should have gone full rebuild then, what are we 5 years removed now? The plan was a soft reset while we still competed as a bubble team. They are now trying to take the next step, management is not accepting a sit and wait any longer. |

Seattle not taking Tarasenko. - Flyers1218
There's a shock! And why should they want a player that has played only 34 games the last two seasons, and has had 3 surgeries on the same shoulder. And why would anyone think the Flyers would have interest in this player also?? |

Again, why would the Kraken take a player that cannot even play good in the AHL?? Francis is not picking Rubstov, this is just funny! - jd250
The same reason why Vegas took Griffin Reinhart? Because they didn't want any part of the rest of the poop that team was pedding?

Hate to lose young talents but this was always part of the plan, at some point they were going to flip youngens for key pieces. Can we debate it is the right time or the right trade? Sure, but it was always part of the plan - wcorvette
See that’s just it. Someone finally speaking my language. Is the timing right? In my opinion, it won’t be unless Fletcher somehow ushers one or both of JvR and Voracek out, while bringing in a guy like Jake Eichel. I’m hoping the Ellis deal is a stepping stone to the next era. |

Every insider has stated the Flyers are a team with interest in him.
And I was just stating that he wasn’t being selected. |

We get it you don’t like Hagg. Truth is he is a solid defenseman that Hakstol is familiar with and I wouldn’t be surprised if they take him with no other deal involved. - black_francis
If Hagg was solid defenseman, then why isn't he in the Flyers lineup consistently?? Its not like the Flyers are a good defensive team with a plethora of all-star defenseman in their lineup. This is just silly! |

Dreidger, Vanecek and Daccord drafted. |
|

And those teams are willing to give you what for them, a 5th round pick? Get real! - jd250
It is real. Literally every team in the NHL needs cheap defensemen. The fact they are cheap and on expiring contracts has value.
Teams can spend money on their top 4 D-men. Thus needing cheaper D for spots 5,6,and 7. It's all about the salary cap. |

But what did we really lose in our young players? 9 points and -30. Id say that addition by subtraction. |

Seravalli is literally tweeting every pick. Pretty much makes tonight obsolete. I get that it’s insider’s job, but it’s kinda anticlimactic. |

Remember when it comes to trade rumors, where there is smoke, there is hardly ever a real fire. These so-called insiders have to write something and most of the time its just pixie dust. Put yourself in Fletcher's shoes. You had an awful season where the team, the coaches, the players, everyone took a huge step backwards. Are you going to try to fix it by grabbing a player like Tarasenko with all that uncertainly around him? I would hope you would say no. I mean, I hate Jake, but at least he is healthy and you know what you are going to get from him in terms of the good and the bad. But its silly to think you would replace him for roughly the same money with a player with so much uncertainty around him. This story from the outset made no sense to me. |
