He had to be pissed that Keith was a bigger priority for Holland than he was. - BINGO!
If he was willing to take 4x4 in Seattle this should have been done a year ago. Give him 17MM over 4 years and done. Complete incompetence by Holland. |

Zero chance Dougie Hamilton goes to Edmonton. - BINGO!
Agree. Why would he even for a massive contract. He’ll have multiple better offers. |

All the best to Larsson in Seattle. They've gained an excellent top 4 defender. - EdmHockeyMan
Let’s not get carried away. He’s a decent middle pair shutdown guy.
I assume part of his decision was just wanting to get away from the place where he will always be the guy they traded Hall away for. |

Edmonton Is going to sign Smith to a multi year contract? I can't believe I just read that. They have reportedly lost Larsson as well, Holland Is sinking the Oilers ship single handedly. |

So I have this PK Subban for sale. Right side. Cost is $1 million is salary but $4.5 in cap hit. He won a Norris, is younger than Kieth. Any interest.... - redmonsters
Haha I applaud the attempt, but Larsson's defensive role can certainly not be replaced by that overpaid liability. P.K. is good for 25 points, many undisciplined minor pims, and no regard for his d-pairing. He is untradable. Hence why the Kraken took Bastian over P.K 50% retained. Not sure what Mike Reilly or David Savard will command but they will certainly be far cheaper to acquire while filling that void. Assuming Broberg, Bouchard, Bear, Keith, potentially Barrie, Nurse, Russell all can't fill those voids... |

He inherited a team there. He didn't build it. He broke it down. |

Singlehandedly? Nah. He’s had a lot of help over the past years. Bob, Chia, Dave, Keith Gretzky. I could go on. |

Two seasons ago, (2019-2020) I'd agree with that statement. In fact. He had quite some rough stretches. At times, he should have been limited to bottom pairing minutes.
This past season tho, he recovered and has been one of the Oilers most consistent defenders while playing tough minutes (stats can be provided if requested). With that said, definitely not a #2 some people may have claimed years ago.
Nonetheless his recent play and overall career labels him as a great top 4 option for many teams. At his best and usually the case, a solid #3 that can take on brutal minutes against the leagues best. At his absolute worst during rough stretches, a #5. Overall, an excellent defensive defender any team would like to have.
But yeah, a change of scenery may just be what Larsson wants. |

Id guess if Holland offered to overpay Hamilton would consider it. At this point, it wouldn't be the worst move Holland made. - jfkst1
it wouldn't be the worst move Holland made. That bar was set last week with the Keith trade. |

Clearly the rough patches were Klefbom's fault. |

Dougie to the Oilers? What cap space are we talking here? $11m before the Smith deal? $6m just to re-sign the RFA's. $2m for Smith. Leaving $3m for Dougie plus Koskinen and Neal buyout cap savings. Both nets an additional $6.8m, but wait, Nurse and Bear need new deals next year.
Guess the needed depth at forward will not be fixed. Capmaster Kenny strikes again. |

Kicking oiler fans while they’re down…classy.
Just kidding. Kick away. The oilers deserve it. Pathetic management. |

Let this sink in for a minute...
If these leaks are correct, the Kraken likely have a better team than the Oilers already. I could see that team finish ahead of the Oilers in the Pacific Division in year 1 despite the Oilers having 2 of the leagues top 5 players. |

Goaltending and D will definitely be better. Forwards will not be close though. |

Yep. Play away from Klefbom was far better it seems. Didn't look into pairing affliations completely until now.
The year before 2018/2019 was when Larsson himself was a times a negative asset for the team. Not his best year, thats for sure.
Years before that (2016-2018) he had his best seasons with Edmonton. 2020/2021 are on par with those seasons. |
