That’s a pretty damn good D to start with…

So when is the last time to get the predicted expansion team in for the contest Sean? Now I'm thinking it's better to submit late.

As long as it's one hour before the Draft if I recall correctly.

Kerfoot (Leafs) to the Kraken... saw it leaked somewhere yesterday

The leak was one video of several created based upon the lists. The production team created videos for several of (maybe even each of) the potential selections for each team, that way they have the production items they need but still maintain secrecy.

Lots of picks leaking. Geekie over Bean or Nino is not what I would have guessed.Gio, McCann, Appleton, Donskoi, Dunn, Jarnkrok, Eberle all easy picks IMO. No price. I knew they wouldn’t take him. Driedger and Vanacek but no Khakonen. Word is it will be Daccord for the third G.

Better than drowning in bloated contracts. If he wants Voracek or Ghost, I'm sure they'll still be on the market.

How so? You don't think the teams trying to rid those overpriced contracts still won't be afterwards? Seattle will still bend teams over after the draft is done, and the team they ice will end up significantly different than their draft list. Francis played it right, IMO.

Whenever anyone says the expansion draft was rigged for Vegas I disagree since that team was projected to be bottom 10 if not bottom 5, in hindsight though Vegas may not have had a bad roster than they appeared to which I don’t think I can say the same for seattle.

Up front I think not selecting domi, dadanov or JVR/Voracek was a swing and a miss, especially since philly probably would have paid to take 1 of the two.

-The worst choice is Tanev, I like the guy but he’s overpaid with term and it’s even worse when you consider zucker and petterson we’re available.

-The best choice was Dunn over tarasenko. I believe Dunn is highly underrated and tarasenko’s injuries are questionable enough to pass on him for a young D with potential.

On the backend I guess starting a core with Giordano, Dunn, oleksiak and Larsson is alright but when you consider guys like petterson, demelo and bean were available it could have been a lot better.

-I may be slightly bias but the best choice here was giordano. He can either help them win if they’re competitive or they can sell him at the deadline if not.

-Once again I wouldn’t call any of their choices terrible just could have been better. I would have considered drouin over Fluery if we knew more details about what’s going on there but I’ve seen enough habs fans bummed about losing the young D to keep an open mind.

As far as Goalies go similarly to D they may be alright but could have been better. I wouldn’t have selected price myself but with the number of other better D options I would have went with Bishop over oleksiak. When healthy he’s a great goalie which is just as much of a gamble as is taking 3 guys that may or may not be 1 hit wonders this past year.


Overall I hope for kraken fans that there’s some trades announced later that explains these picks a bit more but if not it would appear Francis followed up pricing himself out of rewards for taking alright players with bad contracts with passing over talent in the expansion draft.

Also kinda feel for eberle, he seemed to find a home in New York after enduring complete mismanagement in Edmonton for a majority of his tenure there.

He is picking over price 3rd and 4th Liners like Jankrok, Gourde and Tanev. I think i would rather have Johansen over this 3.

Gourde makes 5.1M and put up 36 points last year. Johansen makes 8M for another 4 years and put up 22 points last year. Who is the overpriced 3rd or 4th liner? Even Jarnkrok had 28 points and only makes 2M compared to Johansen.

It sounds like Seattle will trade Giordano to the Rangers for Strome.

Not impressed with the whole thing. The nonstop leaks, questionable selections, perhaps Francis overplayed his hand cause no side deals have been announced. This team will be just like Francis Hurricane teams boring uneventful and irrelevant.

Gourde out until November following shoulder surgery.
