I think the opposite because of term. Only 2 years for a guy with five 20 goal seasons.

I'd call the Avs. Losing Saad and need to have cap space open in 2 years when MacKinnon gets his extension while competing now.

- Tojo.

IDK why they wouldn’t just keep Saad then. They’ll probably have similar cap hits.

How mad are all the pro-McCann trade people that the McCann trade facilitated losing Tanev?
- Victoro311

I think that depends on a take like RW has. Wanted to keep Mccann for middle 6 but BADLY wanted to get rid of Tanevs contract. And maybe they spend the 6 mill on a top 6 and have a 800k for 4th line.

I don’t think Hextall is done yet and I don’t think Zucker or Pettersson are safe yet. Just my opinion on it, but the next week is gonna be crazy is my guess.

I thought about that too, but ultimately I figured his age and 2nd pairing ability would make his contract easy to swallow. His defensive style next to a puck mover like Dumba in Minnesota just seems like a natural fit.

Definitely ok with Tanev being picked. Gaudreau and Zahorna looked like good 4th line players who could replace Tanev for cheaper. Tanev’s 3.5 mil cap space could go into resigning ZAR, Gaudreau, and Zahorna.

With Malkin being hurt, im ok with seeing how carter-Zucker mesh. Or even Zucker with ZAR and Blueger on the 3rd line for now for depth.

- drummer829

He looked great with Carter before. If Zucker stays he'd be set up well to start the year.

We're looking pretty thin up front to start the year.

RW is going to beat the drum that 4th liners are easy to find and can be had for 800k, and then he will complain when we do that and have an unplayable 4th line

Seattle is really being odd. Selecting... Carsen Twarynski from PHI? Who da fook is that jabroni?
- Rinosaur

Not sure, but I'm going to blindly guess he's a prospect that got exposed that they decided to take instead of a roster player since they don't have any prospects and have to draft too many roster players.

I think both can be moved so I don't disagree with your reasoning either. My opinion was Zucker would be easier.

Because of the term length part. Zucker's deal would expire right when it's time to give MacKinnon an extension. Saad's likely is getting longer-term.

I thought about it and I think they're going to be the biggest players in the UFA market.

Might also have some side deals coming in that haven't been reported that will eat up cap space.

Arizona- pitlick, Boston-Lauzon, Buffalo-Borgen, Carolina-Geekie, Calgary-Giordano, Colorado- Donskoi, Columbus-Bayreuther, Dallas-Oleksiak, Edmonton-Larsson, Florida-Dreidger, LA-Macdermaid, Minnesota-Soucy, Canadiens-Cale Fleury, Nashville-Jarnkrok, Isles-Eberle, Devils-Bastien, Ottawa-Daccord, Flyers-twarynski, Pens-Tanev, sharks-True, blues-Dunn, lightning-Gourde, leafs-Mccann, canucks-lind, jets-Appleton, caps-vanecek

Ducks, hawks, wings, rangers still. Rangers working on a trade to get Giordano instead of giving Blackwell?

- pens4life-66

Oh you mean the NBC darlings? The NY market, the LA market, the Chicago market, and Hockeytown USA? The markets they really care about whether or not they tune in? Strange coincidence…

Children of Bodom were and still are the best death metal band ever.

They said a lot of the trades are being really secretive and those will be revealed later during the actual draft. So there is potentially a lot still to happen.

Tanev will be a fan favorite in Seattle. Part of the business is putting entertaining players on the ice. Nearly every time Tanev hit the ice for the Pens he was really fun to watch. He'll definitely be missed on our roster.

He deserved to have his role expanded instead of pigeonholed by our foolishly stubborn coach. He's the player I wanted to lose THE LEAST.

Hexy has some work to do. Let's hope he doesn't compensate for this loss by giving horrible contracts to a couple of big stiffs.

- madmike71

He's the one I didn't want to lose either.

Who the heck is going to play center for the Kraken??? Have they picked up a single guy who is a top 9 center? Gourde is maybe a #2 guy. Don't tell me McCann, because he is not a true center. Geekie could handle 4th line duties.

Wonder if they are going to try to make a play for Eichel? They have the cap space and that #2 pick would have to be pretty damn valuable to Buffalo.

Ride the Lightning is one of the best metal albums of all time, but they definitely aren't death metal.

Center was always going to be a more questionable position for them. Gourde could very well be their #1 center.

I'm not sure what they could offer Buffalo for Eichel considering Buffalo wants top futures. Seattle doesn't have those yet, but who knows what kind multi-team trade could be arranged.

Right now, Gourde and McCann are arguably their best centers.

Yeah the first 4 or 5 albums are power. Symphonies of distortion. I was actually jogging with Puppets on the other night, first time listening to it in like 10 years and it sounded fresh as fvck hahah

Why would the team with the less pricey younger Tanev do that?
- MattStrat

Because they probably aren’t as effective as Tanev. That’s why they obviously don’t cost as much.
