We are so screwed...

We hit the jackpot and won a friggin lottery... but this is the Leafs we are talking about...

We go and hire a GM with no NHL experience...! You think they would have learned from Gord Stellick!

For frig sakes... Dubas has no clue how to build an NHL playoff team. Wayne Simmonds? Holl? The Giraffe? Malgin... friggin Malgin!

I think the most frustrating thing is the waste of asset we are seeing and the long term consequences... STOP THROWING AWAY 1st round picks! It’s like the early 2000’s all over again... remember Owen Nolan?

Well, Dubas can be looked upon as having made a good move to aquire McCann to save Kerfoot or Dermot.
So if this is a precursor to bigger and better changes remains to be seen.
When I compare Dubas to Marc Bergeron , I prefer Bergeron on his evaluation of talent.
Ever since the Kadri trade I felt Dubas evaluation of talent was suspect, albeit the aquistion of Muzzin and Campbell.
The playoff loss to the Habs was a insulting slap in the face.
Will Dubas correct the Leaf deficiencies to make us a contender,
somehow I don't think so!
For many of us, we have lost confidence in his abilities to put together a team that can win in the playoffs.

Good for Zach. He'll be loved for 2-3 years then despised for the next 4-5 and eventually bought out.

Why do other teams seem to be able to retain there players on decent contracts? Like Boston. They never seem to have issues... oh, wait, it because THERE STAR PLAYERS TOOK REASONABLE CONTRACTS and that sets the tone for the whole team...

Julien BriseBois has no nhl exp (if you are talking about playing in the NHL). which, who cares.

Dubas spend half his life in hockey.

THIS

Dubas has made a few good moves. Brody is an example. But lots of ‘meh’ and poor asset management. I will never understand the Malgin trade for example...

Dubas wasn't willing to make a side deal with them.

First of all, Matthews was fine. It was Marner who sucked. This is not about one player. It’s a friggin team sport. you see Tampa play? THats a team. Up and down the lineup we cant match them. They are men and we are boys.

I dont care about other teams. Hiring a GM with no NHL experience was stupid. This is the Leafs. We are supposed to be the big franchise in the NHL.

How long are we going to give Dubas?

Hymans solid... But I can't imagine how one comes to the conclusion that giving him an 8 year deal is a good idea. 29 and he's got no knees. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Anything longer than 4 years at 5m per, holland needs to be fired.
He's not worth anything over 4m per, but he's an FA and its edmonton

The article on Sportsnet about it said one of their two 6th round picks.

Further down it suggested perhaps Klefbom could be the return as the leafs love LTIR money. Even if it is LTIR I'm not sure how you go from 6th rounders to Klefbom, but I would take it. 🤷🏻‍♂️

We’re going to win a lot of series where Matthews scores one goal in 7 games

I think 5 mill is okay for Hyman, he brings lots to the table every night. But, with guys making 10+ mill we cant do it... next year we will just put 2 forwards on the ice, 4 skaters. I think that will work out good...

Isn't that the whole point of spending 40 million on 4 forwards? So it doesn't all fall down if Matthews doesn't score?

So what would you suggest? I thought Matthews was one of the Leafs who played fairly well, but maybe I am wrong. Didn’t seem to have a lot of help IMO.

Trade the bum?

I was suggesting that it’s wrong to lay it all on Marner for starters. Secondly, they need to make goods adds to the top two lines to replace Hyman and Galchenyuk

One point of view. Another might be, bush league coaching as in
1) failure to match lines especially get Matthews away from Danault when he had home ice advantage.
2) failure to manage an effective power play despite being "loaded" with offensive talent.
3) failure to recognize that officials were not calling penalties and not motivating Team to take liberties with Habs better players as Habs certainly were doing.
4) not changing weak soft back pass "possession" game to drive the (frank)en net when the weak soft backpass possession game was cleary not working.

I feel they should have let Seattle announce the trades tonight to make the show better.
- Aaron_85

Again, outside of Kraken fans why would anyone watch that nonsense?
Plus I dont see many trades to be announced.
