We should totally trade Kerfoot for Hallander and a 6th.

That is brilliant.. I wonder if Pittsburgh would go for it.

I wonder how much more painful this coming year's first round exit will be. Or will I just be numb to it all?

Probably the latter.

Two examples.

Vesey got a 3rd and Buffalo didnt sign him

Yandle got a 4th and 6th and Florida signed him

This is a sign and trade, its different and more valuable.

A 6th round pick would be a joke.

While I agree, when do things like this ever work out well for the Leafs? If be surprised if the Leafs didn't give them a 7th St this point

The Oilers as a mess.

Mcdavid and Dri makes them a playoff team but they wont go anywhere with their roster.

- Santo_44

I still don't understand the Keith trade. At all. It's like he wanted to make a trade with maximum pain. Surely, there were no other suitors for Keith's services -- especially at that price point.

It'd be nice to run that Canadian Division one more time.

If Holl doesn't get any Norris votes for being the best 2M defender in the universe I will become comfortably numb.

most would, but is Holland really that lost?
- PatC80

Holland knows his legacy is cemented. He's already in the HHOF. Anything he does now is gravy. He's been a horrible salary cap GM. The Cup he won in 2008 was mostly won by relics from the 2002 Cup team. Zetterberg and Datsyuk prolonged another decade of Cup contending. Neither player were expected to be Franchise players. Holland lucked into those 2.

But without Mike Ilitch's checkbook we'll never really know if Holland would've been a successful GM or not. I can remember him signing Pat Verbeek in the middle of the season for 3 mil because he needed a 3LW. I'm grateful for what Holland did as Red Wings GM.

But he REALLY really ran the Red Wings into the ground his last 7 years with horrible drafting, foolish UFA signings and no impactful trades. Yzerman is doing a great job cleaning his mess up. Kenny went to Edmonton because they have 2 stars who can smear alot of lipstick over a pig. It's easy.

The Oiler fanbase had no idea what they were getting with Holland. Red Wings fans knew but we were told we were just ripping him because he was no longer Red Wings GM. Heck Oilers fans were declaring him to be a hockey God after he made the Lucic for Neal trade. Huh?

Nothing Holland does surprises me. Pick the low hanging fruit and re-sign Mike Smith? Check. No impactful trades? Check. Overpay Hyman in UFA? Check.

I'm now convinced Holl is the best Defenseman in the NHL. Way to go, Dubie! You just keep hitting home runs. 👍

I am convinced he is just trolling Mcdavid, he has a secret obsession of Gretsky and doesn't want anyone to steal his legacy.

twitter is saying the 8th year depends on what the Leafs are looking for in terms of compensation.. If it's too high of an ask, the Oilers will wait until FA starts to sign him to a 7 yr deal
