Seattle really seems to be making some weird decisions.

I'm interested to see what the trades look like.

- Leafs43

Exactly what you could expect from a General Manager that has never completed a player-for-player trade in his career.

I'm not kidding. Not even one in 4 years as a GM.

He'll take the most cost controlled player possible 100 times out of 100 if you let him.

He has a CF% of 49.83% without Muzzin the last 2 years
- Santo_44

Even that isn’t very good, playing with Matthews - Marner - Tavares - Nylander as his top 4 forwards and all their cf% jump up as they play away from him.

He’s better suited as 3rd pair by the look of it.

Still think we need Hamilton to move everyone down a notch even if it costs us a good forward.

So let me get this straight...

Pens were going to lose McCann.

Dubas gave them Hallander and a 7th. Logic: they might take Kerfoot.

Kerfoot = McCann give or take a tiny bit of $ and talent either way.

Kraken take McCann.

Pens get Hallander and a 7th.

Kraken basically took Hallander and a 7th from the Leafs, basically nothing off of the roster for the expansion draft.

Besides the fact that our roster can't make it passed the first round and is obviously fu3ked money wise to balance it out...all of it was a complete nothing burger.

I'm no fan of Dubas, but it was a slick move and worked.

Now get the fu3k to work Dubas, fix this piece of shiit, pu$$y ass team and find some muthafu3king players with fire in their belly. Oh wait, can't no $$$.

3 wingers
1 top 4 RHD
1 b/u G

No cap, no picks, light on the prospects. We're fu3ked.

- underhill14

But they could have had 3.5 more apples if they don't do the trade. After the trade if they went 7-3-1 they could have had 2 more apples and one of Kerfoot or McCann or both could have played wing.

Lol. Jack Campbell, who has a career high of 22 starts, and some plug backup. Might as well get Ayers.

Good luck with that goaltending.

He's wrong though, they lost McCann.
- bobbyisno1

Hard to consider it a loss when he never stepped foot in the locker room, didn't get issued a team hat, we don't have to take the nameplate down from his locker and nobody has to wonder what to do with their Leafs McCann jersey.

It was beautiful asset management by Dubas.

I'm not a huge fan of Dubas, but let's give credit where credit is due.

Cap space is important. I'd love to add another 10M forward but we can't.
- Santo_44

Oh really??

Tell that to your boy Dubas who put us in cap hell with his idiotic cap structure.

Look at it this way Bobby...

Jared McCann was never a Leaf. How could we lose him?

They could trade Kerfoot tomorrow, and receive more than a 7th rounder and Hallender in return.

You're just being difficult, Bobsy.

Those apples can still be eaten bud. Are we forgetting there's still an entire off-season of signings and trades to take place?

The Leafs roster you currently see on CapFriendly is not set in stone.

Just didn't like the 4-4-1 protection route or the trade if that was the route they were going in the first place.

I for one am angry that Dubas didn't fix the entire team prior to the expansion draft.

As we all know, most GMs are done their offseason dealings prior to both the entry draft and UFA signing period.

Trading Kerfoot is not the same as losing him in the expansion draft, with a trade there'll be a cap hit coming back.
So no 3.5 apples.

Justin Holl needed to be protected. Everyone should accept this. We need his cap hit and his chemistry with Muzzin.

Will you like the Mccann trade if the Leafs trade Kerfoot post expansion to the Pens for Hallander and a 3rd?

We don't know what the return for a Kerfoot trade would be - but the idea that it has to include cap coming back isn't true.

Personally I would have preferred both Kerfoot and McCann over Justin Holl.

To me that extra $3.5M means shiit. It's not enough when you have to replace that player any way.

The roster is in a downward spiral of attrition.

The Leafs, because of the cap mess on 3 forwards, keep having to cheat on the value of players in the right position...like Holl being a top 4 on a contender

Leafs have NO CAP space to fix the roster properly. Leafs have no option but to put players in positions that are over their head.

Lose fu3king Marner already. It will sting for some of you for a while but when the Leafs get passed the 1st round finally....we will all be celebrating the wins AND Marner's success elsewhere.

We could have $20M for:

4 W (we need 3 now but with Marner gone)
1 top 4 RHD
1 b/u G

Or we have $9M for:

3 W
1 top 4 RHD
1 b/u G
