Well right now we do have just over 20 million in cap space.

What will be fair for Dube and Valimaki? Dube $2 and Vali $1.5 on a couple year show me contracts?

I'm sure you guys will like Pitlick while he's healthy. Fast, plays hard, and can wire a goal home relatively consistently. A quintessential bottom-6 forward. I miss him from his Oilers days!

Thanks Max! Sounds like a Sutter-style player.

How are you feeling about Hyman to Edmonton?

Definitely is. I wouldn't be surprised to see Sutter give him too much of a role.

I've been strongly considering following the Kraken or Rangers for a while and the moves I'm seeing from Edmonton thus far haven't convinced me otherwise

Hyman is fine as a target and brings a lot of what the Oilers need but that term practically guarantees it'll be another Lucic kind of situation. To his credit, I don't imagine Hyman is the kind of player to get as sloppy and disengaged as Lucic did during his time in Edmonton.

And Smitty? 2x2...
Holland is obviously assuming Keith is going to anchor the blueline with Nurse because, well, there isn't anyone else and now theres no way the Oil have cap space to sign a big FA. Although Ek did say Hamilton is being considered so I should eat my words.

As is tradition with Flames coaches and fourth liners. See Chiasson, Ritchie, Lucic...the list goes on and on, really.

Were there not a couple of games that Rino played with SM and JG?

Any other Rumours? I was hoping for more than a Pitlick today.

Pitlick seems alright but I think the biggest benefit to this trade is that it likely pushes Ritchie down to the 4th line where he belongs. Assuming no major moves are made and pitlick is as good defensively as they say, him and backlund could form quite the shutdown duo.

So the lines as we stand now:

JG-Lindholm-tkachuck
Mangi-monahan-Dube/UFA
Dube/UFA-backlund-pitlick
Lucic-ruzicka-Ritchie

Extras: Phillips, gawdin

If we didn’t have any off-ice issues I could actually really like this lineup depending on the UFA.
