Love me some pulled pork, but can you, or have you ever smoked a brisket? It took me a few tries but now I can smoke a brisket and it turns out really good every time.

True story, I'm body by brisket. I can't cook/smoke for poop though.

Before Game 1, imo, they need vets on defense to take the hardest minutes. Unless they think the kids are ready for that. I don't. Murph, Z and de Haan can do so, but the board wants two of them gone. So......

I personally think they are going to target a top tier defensemen.....shocker. its been reported before they traded Keith, they traded Keith, bowman today brought up the number of #1 D men in the NHL...too much smoke around it. No idea who said player is, but i think there is TOO much smoke to ignore the possibility of it.

As far as the 3 you mention......IMO

1. Murphy--shop him and only trade him IF you can acquire said top d man above AND you get a massive return here
2. Zadorov....I don't see any reason to pay him long term. 1 year deal at 3 aav? Ugh...I guess but DeHaan can't be on the roster as well. Any more than 1 year, I just dont' see the value going there based on what he's shown. What is he? a 2nd pairing guy? Likely a 4th or border line 3rd pairing guy on a cup contending team? That's my issue.....while Hawks aren't a cup contender, over paying him to slot him over his own skis seems foolish
3. Dehaan.....too fragile to keep, and I lost all confidence in him when he back peddled his way almost on to Lankinen's lap vs Carolina and gave up a goal in the last seconds vs Carolina. he is just bad.....let him be somebody else's problem.

Seattle thought so highly of both of Z and DeHaan they went elsewhere for D help....that to me isn't a great sign the market is strong for either and/or both.

I'm new to smoking my meat (softball for Gramps to hit), and haven't ventured into brisket yet. Have been cooking for bigger crowds (yes, Dots, some people like me) and didn't want to serve it until I have tried it 1st. Soon, though.

beer can chicken
pork tenderloin
beef tenderloin
turkey
pork belly

done it all......brisket tries a man's patience and is an all day battle but if done correctly....it's well worth it. Just have to wait it out.....

I'm fine with getting rid of any of them. But forcing the Utes to play top pair or 2nd pair competition before they are ready is a bad move, imo. So, if two of those guys go, they at least need another stiff or two to throw under the tires.

By summer's end the Hawks might be looking for a new G.M. I guess that will depend on the outcome of the Independent sexual assault Investigation. Wink Wink. Key word Independent.

I started by smoking ribs, took a few times to get those right. Then I smoked a Boston Butt. The first one I smoked I kept putting additional apple wood in and it was so smoky it was inedible. The first brisket I made I smoked just the point. I put in on at 7:00 am and by 9:00 that night it was only at 180F. I took it off and rested it for five minutes and it was tougher than a puck. The next day we had the most expensive chilli ever made. Now I put it on the smoker at 11:00 pm, it’s ready in the afternoon. I let it rest for three or four hours and it’s good every time.

I have a Komodo type cooker so it’s kind of cheating. Once I get the temp to where I want it it doesn’t go above or below that temp by a single degree. I can get it as low as 190F and get it as high as 900F. It makes an amazing pizza.

Relax big boy. The burbs have their faults also and if living in an urban area is your thing that's fine too. It's just not for me anymore.

As far as red/blue/purple state. I don't care much there either. I have no use for politicians whose only concern is getting their egos stroked, looking at their constituency as a revenue resource and constantly running for re-election.

Meanwhile, Ghost moved, Kraken with their 1st trade, other teams with trades and signings. What is Stanley doing?

If you get a chance try smoking a waygu brisket. It's what they are using in the BBQ competitions. It's unreal good!

Not sure DeHaan will last more than 20 games or so with the wonky shoulder anyway.

Signing a Cole, Demers or Martinez has to be an upgrade over Z and DeHaan.

Wasn't DeHaan's season ending injury a leg injury? That being said, he has definitely been fragile the past couple of years.

well...to rebuttal that.....

Hamilton or Jones and
Murphy and

Its been said by many on this board that Boqvist (21 years old) had a good run before injury. So wouldn't that lock him in to either a pairing with the top guy or 2nd pairing listed above?

That leaves a pool of Mitchel (22 years old), Beaudin (22 years old), Kalynuk (24 years old), Stillman (22 years old), Jones (24 years old) all left to be in the running for a 2nd pairing spot.

Or they sign a veteran to a 1 year deal and possibly flip him by the deadline.

I think at some point, some of these guys have to get some exposure and evaluation to where they are headed...especially 27. Seabrook was 20 when he was up here for good......Hammer 22 with 34 NHL games prior to becoming a main stay....keith was 22......

Gotta let the chicks out of the nest at some point.......
