I have lived in both Texas and California, and yes, the cost of living in Texas is less than California, but real estate prices have soared in places like Austin and Denver. The gap is narrowing. And having lived in Texas for thirty years, I can tell you they make up for it in property taxes.

The cost of living will go up in Texas and Florida. More population means more strain on infrastructure. Texas already has major electrical grid problems (which will become as bad or surpass California's issue). Florida has a horrible highway system and minimal infrastructure.

Housing prices have definitely exploded in Texas and Florida. It is almost impossible to find housing in Denver.

Everyone should take a peak at which states get the most federal money. Hint the biggest blue states contribute far more in federal tax revenue then they get back. They close that gap by having higher state taxes.

California pays the 6th most per student enrolled in school, yet comes in 38th as far as education. There is no penalty for shoplifting, or for that matter any crime, as your case is most likely dismissed by the DA.

The young players, I think, can grow & fill those roles well. But I wouldn't blame JC because of the roster.

The poster who brought up the income tax issue was comparing Larsson's salary in Seattle versus Canada.

Larsson's actual salary this season is 2.5M. He'll net 1.544M in Seattle versus netting 1.327M in Edmonton, a 217K difference. Of course that doesn't take into account housing cost, property taxes, quality of life etc.
