How did he get his ass kicked in the NHL? He was concussed during a rookie tournament, and broke his wrist in the Junior tournament. He came back too soon this year and his wrist couldn't handle it. The previous year, he didn't look out of place and looked really good in the bubble. - Chunk
He was a different body in the bubble than pre bubble. He would not have been in the NHL to start if he could have been in the AHL |

I have lived in both Texas and California, and yes, the cost of living in Texas is less than California, but real estate prices have soared in places like Austin and Denver. The gap is narrowing. And having lived in Texas for thirty years, I can tell you they make up for it in property taxes. - MartiniMan
The cost of living will go up in Texas and Florida. More population means more strain on infrastructure. Texas already has major electrical grid problems (which will become as bad or surpass California's issue). Florida has a horrible highway system and minimal infrastructure.
Housing prices have definitely exploded in Texas and Florida. It is almost impossible to find housing in Denver.
Everyone should take a peak at which states get the most federal money. Hint the biggest blue states contribute far more in federal tax revenue then they get back. They close that gap by having higher state taxes.
Is it 1pm yet so hockey things can start?

I think playing time is way more important to a player than a trivial thing then taxes.
All i pay is taxes, zero debt, so for me its cheaper paying my real estate taxes then renting anything.
And Illinois doesn't tax 401k or pensions, so there is that to
So I'll survive the whopping 3.5% state tax i have to pay. - BetweenTheDots
California under 1 mil. is 10%, over is 13.3%, although property taxes is less per assessed value, housing prices are one of the highest in the nation, our gas taxes are at least 50 cents higher than other states. California pays the 6th most per student enrolled in school, yet comes in 38th as far as education. There is no penalty for shoplifting, or for that matter any crime, as your case is most likely dismissed by the DA.

Ouch, and everyone is complaining about 3.5% here and a relatively stable housing market in good and bad times.

Nothing really, but since he replaced a legend, there is almost nothing he can do right save winning a Cup. |

Lots of agendas on the board today.
They keep telling me it’s a hockey board - maybe not completely. |

I'd like to see it run with actual dmen and centers who know what they are doing. |

The young players, I think, can grow & fill those roles well. But I wouldn't blame JC because of the roster. |

The poster who brought up the income tax issue was comparing Larsson's salary in Seattle versus Canada.
Here's a cap friendly link.
https://www.capfriendly.c...x-calculator/adam-larsson
Larsson's actual salary this season is 2.5M. He'll net 1.544M in Seattle versus netting 1.327M in Edmonton, a 217K difference. Of course that doesn't take into account housing cost, property taxes, quality of life etc. |

Total dollars, maybe, percentage of income, highly doubt it...they pay people like my father to figure out how to minimize. All within the current rules of the game. |

Curious to see what trades, if any, Stan has lined up prior to UFA starting.....have to figure maybe 1-2 of Zadorov and/or DeHaan or Murphy.
Sounds like he isn't against spending some on UFAs so that should intriguing as well....always fun when the actual happens so we all can stop talking about mock conservations about trades/signings that beat a dead horse. |

I am not going over to the Oilers board, but I wonder if this Larsson departure was in the cards in and Holland knew it.
They should be happy that the got Duncs now...
Nah, they probably are not. - wiz1901
Maybe Bowman can now trade DeHaan and his $4.5 AAV cap hit over there for a 2nd (conditional 1st if extended) and watch the board fully melt down lol |
