Bennett should be 3 yrs. 10.5 total. Anything after that Is way overvalued. |

Yikes someone has to go we are burning up cap space without even touching the defense. Although could argue yandle was addition by subtraction. Still have a whole other Sam to sign too. And roster is showing 23 already. Somebody must be moving |

Florida looks good right now but yes, Someone may have to go or two to make It all fit. Then there are a couple of kids who could make the team this year as well. I think Denisenko has a shot. |

I think they will let Hornqvist, Wennberg, and Montour test free agency. They still have to sign Reinhart and he's going to get a raise, being he was Buffalo's leading scorer. |

I’d like to keep Hornqvist if possible. He does a lot of the dirty work around the net. Totally fine letting Montour walk - was not a fan of his game. Bummer to lose Wennberg, but he could be a cap casualty at this point.

He played well when coming over, but made some costly (selfish) mistakes in the playoffs. Hope he fixes that.
I’m curious how he’ll do because I still don’t have a good gage/sample size on him. Zito must feel he’s worth the contract, so we’ll see. |

I'm mistaken, Hornqvist is still under contract. So that is great news. I don't know if they can trade Stralman, even though he played well in the playoffs. I look for them maybe to add a bargain barn defenseman. Suter will want too much money. Maybe a Michael del Zotto or an Eric Grubranson who was a fan favorite when he played for the Panthers. |

Yeah he had a good 10 game span when he was motivated on a new team and needing a new contract. Maybe he will be renewed with Florida but his larger sample size in Calgary is a big red flag.

Yes every year i say this we keep signing guys and i think at some point you have to let some of the youngns up maybe 1 or 2 a year kinda thing. Break them in in waves. Just hope we can put up a good record this season as we dont have a 1st or 2nd rounder at this juncture |

I think Bennett adds team toughness, something we didn't have before. He's not afraid to forecheck or do backchecking in his own zone. When he does have the puck, he drives to the net. Most European players make that pass at the last second that gets picked off. If you watch Huberdeau he does not forecheck nor does Barkov. So you need a balance of players that will pick up the slack. |

The structure of the contract is interesting:
Sam Bennett contract structure:
Year 1, $2.925M (includes $1M signing bonus)
Year 2, $3.425M
Year 3, $6.35M
Year 4, $5M |

Totally agree about the Defense. Suter would be a home run but I have no clue how you could fit his salary and not to mention Reinhart too |

Anton Strolman to AZ Coyotes. That frees up $5.4 mil. We have about 11-12 mil under the cap now. We need to sign a third line defenseman with experience. |

Just saw that, too. Excellent news.
Looks like the Cats get a 2023 7th Round Pick and AZ gets:
Stralman
Kolyachonok
2024 2nd Round Pick |

With trading stralman they now have the space to sign Montour and of course Reinhart. Doubt the speculation on Suter as his production equivalent to Yandle. At 36 now…don’t see that happening with other teams willing to pay over market for a perennial past his prime. |

Personally I was excited when we got Montour. But watching him makes me 100% sure that there's a lot better out there than Montour. I know we can do better than that. Let him go. |

I don’t think he’s in their plans. Need a top 4 veteran stay at home guy |

The biggest difference is he seems to getting more of a chance in FL. I don’t expect him to keep up the pace he was on when he arrived in FL, but I think he’ll be worth the contract. |

I didn’t realize how offensive-minded he was. It was very apparent in the TBL series. Seeing him out of position/miss assignments that led to goals and constantly rushing the puck or being below the goal line in the offensive zone sealed it for me.
