Danault just signed in LA for 6 x 5.5... gotta think Mony at 2 x 6.375 and Backs 3 x 5.35 have trade value! Extra value if we retain a million or 2!!!! |

John Gove: Flames Free Agent Frenzy Tracker - John Gove
Actually John, Zadorov being compared to Gio isnt a very good comparison as they are different players. The biggest difference is Gio is 6'1" 201 lbs & 37 years old. Zadorov is 6'6" & 235lbs & 26 years old. Zadorov is what we have been lacking on our back end & badly needed for this team whether we had Gio or not. Andersen will need to step up & bring things that Gio did for us & Im confident in this young player to doing that.
I too really like the Coleman acquisition. Was hoping to hear Gaudreau extended today. I also think once the frenzy is over, teams that miss out on a top 6 centre will be circling back on Monahan.
Someone want to tell me what the fck Francis is doing???? Grubauer? Maybe dress 3 goalies & lie them out in front of the net so they can keep the scoring down. |

Wonder if that Lucic to Pens is still possible.
Still need a top 6 RW.
Anyone on the twitterverse hearing of any more possible deals? |

Coleman's contract is pure madness, that's Neal all over again right there. Insanity.
Zadorov killed us in the playoffs a few years ago with Colorado, he absolutely neutralized our best forwards physically. That kind of dman is priceless in the playoffs when the referees leave their whistles in the dressing room (see Montreal). Only problem is we're probably not gonna make said playoffs. Oops.
Edit : We signed Coleman for more $ and term than Hoffman's new contract. Madness. |

Coleman is nothing like Neal. He's a great 2 way player that can hit, skate and score goals. Still wished we changed up the core/ top 6 a bit more, hope we trade monny or Johnny- even tho the latter has a list of 5 teams that has now kicked in |

He doesn't shoot on the right side, Treliving must be looking to get fired. This signing has Neal all over it.

Nah relax I dont think it's all that bad. Coleman was a fricking beast in the playoffs, I cant see his game dropping off the face of the earth that quickly. Brouwer & Neal were slow skaters in a game we all knew was getting faster & faster, Coleman has speed. In fact look how often we saw Ritchie & Leivo & Simon playing in the top 6. They didnt belong there. Coleman can play on that 2nd line. I say we have 3 good years out of that deal which ironically is right when we are probably cleaning house & starting a rebuild
Zadarov was really needed on our backend, I never even thought about us getting that guy. Whether we had Gio or not we needed a D like him. A lot of UFA's are getting locked up & there wont be a whole lot by tomorrow. Pretty well all the big names are gone & some teams have some big holes, so I still expect a big shoe to drop yet. |

Really love the Zadorov pickup. Much needed size on the back end- and can play mean. Solid trade for Vladar. Now let's just get Eichel and we Gucci |

Yeah finally getting a Russian that will probably stick around for awhile. I remember the draft & we had those 3 draft picks. Monahan no brainer but I was hoping we could have parlayed our other 2 later picks for that #12 Buffalo used to take Zadorov. He seemed exactly what we needed even back then.
Wonder if this means we may be drafting more Russians higher up in the future lol |

Treliving giving away draft picks and monster contracts like candy for players who don't move the needle one bit. He's trying to save his job. He'll only handcuff this team for years to come. |

Ummm, he "gave away" a third rounder for Zadorov and another 3rd for Vladar (who is still making $750k)...
The contracts are what you pay at free agency. He could have done nothing (which is almost what it feels like) but this team has needs. The Coleman deal is ok save the term and Lewis is $800k. According to capfriendly we have just under $13 mil in cap space.
Zadorov is exactly what the D core was missing and the rest are supplementary pieces. Coleman is not Neal or Brouwer, at least not yet. |

If Buff is accepting JG or Mony as being part of the package for Jack I bet those conversations are ongoing.
