trying so hard to not look like a bitter immature baby...
but freaking Colorado simply gets their contract rejected by the NHL while the Devils lose a 1st round pick for the same offense. Luongo, Hossa.. nothing. Grubauer.. oh, restructure it and everything's fine. Kovalchuk- goodbye 1st round pick.. and restructure it to make everything fine.

You are not being a baby. The NHL has known and allowed similar type of "retirement" contracts but decided to go after the Devils. Yet old dinosaurs like Weber, Seabrooke, etc. get injured (most of us know it as old age or create an allergy) to go on LTIR and there is no penalty. Its just like the office of player safety, depends on who you are and what team you play for.

To me, the only good take on trading Butcher is that Fitz was giving him a chance at a new contract after this season that would not happen here. Don't know if I believe that, but it is what I hope. The deal from a Devil's perspective makes makes no sense.

I’m looking at it as a salary dump even with the retained salary. I would have kept him. Maybe put him thru waivers when you need to set the 23 man roster.

What they are saying is that regardless of what the roster looks like moving forward Butcher isn't going to be part of the team. They would call up a young player over him. So eating part of his salary is less than paying him the full amount and then other players who fit the needs of the organization will get play time. Hope he can figure out his game in Buffalo but it was clear he didn't fit in with the direction this team is taking.

You're completely right. I'm just surprised because he put up almost .5 pts per game and was a -3 on a horrible team. Not arguing he was good but when they eventually put him in he was reasonably serviceable.

I'll assume Ryan Murray did not want to sign here, because on a 1 year deal for $2 million that was a good get for Colorado.

Very good for Chicago, a little surprised he couldn't get a little more or more term, while not flashy he was steady and was our best dman in his zone many nights

Yeah he made it pretty obvious in his exit interview that he had zero interest in coming back

Safe to say. He will be missed. He was able to stop most of the bleeding when he was on the ice, and Col just landed a very underrated guy for 2M. Tho he might not see the same responsibilities with Byram, Toews, Girardi all occupying that LD. Glad we aren't in that division.

We had no room for him with Seigenthaler in the 3rd LD. Murray was like a worse Severson to my eye.

I guess the Tatar and Tarasenko are off the table, unless St Louis is really waiting on eichel like ek suggested

Why would either be off the table? Nothing has changed. After re-singning Kyrou the Blues only have 3.5M in cap space and still need to re-sign Thomas and Sanford. He's still going to end up getting moved so they have flexibility going into the season. And Tatar is waiting for someone to give him term, according to Friedman he has only received 1 year offers so far

it's been a week already. I'm not saying there's no chance.. but it's been a week. But I shouldn't doubt Fitz.

Its been way longer than a week. Armstrong is holding his ground on the high asking price and teams inquiring aren't increasing their offers. Fitz has said multiple times that hes not going to chase/force a deal

This is pretty normal for the off season. Once the initial wave of deals happens it's pretty slow until the arbitration cases are dealt with then a couple of moves happen then nothing for like a month. Something not happening right now doesn't mean there won't be a move. There is a lot of time to work things out.

Just tired of waiting lol. .. like how I’ve been waiting years for iPhone to have in-screen Touch ID and true multitasking. The ability is there and I can’t wait any longer! Lol

Dougie Hamilton will officially be wearing #7. Graves will be wearing #33. Bernier takes #45

Just saw that. At least it’s news. Obviously the best player to wear the 7 since Paul Martin. Always liked Martin when he was in his prime with us.. just couldn’t justify paying that contract he got from Pitt. 33 is meh but ok. 45 is such a goalie number in my brain and is perfect for veteran Bernier.
So weird how the mind makes connections and has feelings about numbers lol

Who would be a good trade candidate that wouldn't cost us much that can help us score?
