Arbitrator can only award 1 or 2 year deals, JB likes term though so my guess is they get a number, settle outside of arb, and wind up around 4X3m.

I would just be concerned if they committed that hard to him and it didn't work out. Like Schmidt is a good hockey player he just didn't mesh with the team for example. Richardinson might not be so easy to move in that scenario given that he's a defensive specialist.

I too find 4/3m liveable but prefer 3/2.5m+. Agree some won’t like that 4th year solely on past contracts.

Good points. I believe JD is a legit good 3C in most ways. His offence hasn’t ben great but Dallas didn’t have the wingers he will have here & played a more stifling D system.
