People ought to read the whole interview before commenting based on just this article. The stuff Z covered that Nate does to push himself goes way beyond comparitively minor stuff like yelling at teammates to be better. Guy more than practices what he preaches. I'm the first guy who'd pop someone in the mouth for yelling at me undeservedly but I'd take 29 on my team any day after reading that. Would have before but way, way moreso now.

Mac is one of my favorite players in the league so I may be biased but this article is a bit misleading in that it doesn't include the full story. Zadorov talks about Nate's ridiculous work ethic, his dietary plan, etc. He holds himself to a very high standard and expects his teammates to as well. I don't see anything wrong with that. Sure some of the stuff might come off as brash but this is a tough league to win in and Nate knows what it takes from his relationship with Sid. I can only hope that Lafreniere starts training with Sid and Nate and develops some of these characteristics himself. I really don't see how you win without a leader with that kind of intensity and expectations of his teammates

Beat me to it. Couldn't agree more

If Avs fans don't like it please sign a petition to trade him to the Rangers

I mean so far only two Avs fans have weighed in and neither of us seem to care. Like I said, he can be the biggest douche on the planet and as long as they win then who gives a damn?

The real greats realized that others around them couldn't match their skill. Berating a teammate because a pass wasn't exactly on the tape? Guys like Gretzky and Mario and Yzerman would quietly carry on with a drill without a public spectacle to embarass a teammate. They demanded 100% effort from their teammates but realized most couldn't match their skill level so why berate someone who is giving 100%. A guy like Sakic needs to step in and have a coaching staff that can properly channel MacKinnon's emotions. Zero Cups and counting.

Maybe try leading by example rather than publicly embarrassing people and yourself?

No one puts NmK in the same category as the lemieuxs, Gretzky’s, crosbys etc. he hasn’t won anything and seems like he’s got a whiners attitude

imo, it sounds like a guy who would make a good lieutenant if he had a strong captain to keep him in check

he could could very well mature into a strong #1 but he's not there quite yet (and may never be)

Read the whole interview before posting garbage comments on how Nate is berating team mates. He holds himself to the highest standard and tells everyone that they are there for one reason and one reason only, win the Stanley cup. You have a problem with that? Play on a different team. For fans it's a game, for players it is literally everything. Mack's a great leader and knows that winning is more fun than losing, 100% want that on my team

I’m sorry, I wouldn’t mesh well with a teammate trying to belittle me for a pass that was a little less than perfect
My next “errant” pass would be about head high....

But taking comments out of context and providing unsolicited opinions on another team's board is half the fun of HB. Don't you care how disgusted the fans of other teams are????

This is true. I do love playoff time in these comments. Can also say I haven't seen this many comments on an Avs thread for a long time. I miss fatmarsh and his polite smack talk

Exactly. I don't need to read the whole article or get all the context. If a teammate, with far less skill than me, sends me a pass that isn't perfect...how does not moving my stick so the puck slides down the ice and then I race over and get in the guys face help the situation? There isn't any other context needed. It's childish and kills morale. Like is anyone allowed to do the opposite when MacKinnon makes a mistake? Or is he flawless? The fact that a guy like Sakic tolerates this is shocking. Again, guys like Gretzky, Mario, Yzerman, Sakic would never do this. That's why they all have multiple Cups and MacKinnon has 0.
