Drury seems to share as little information as possible. While that is probably best for the organization, his tenure is going to be very frustrating for reporters, bloggers and fans.

I wouldn't be surprised to find out that Shesty is already signed, they simply haven't announced it yet.

I also think Eichel isn't leaving Buffalo under the current circumstances. NOBODY is going to trade for him knowing he needs a serious surgery. I hope/believe Drury will be executing a PLAN B for an upgrade at center before the summer is over.

Waiting is the hardest part!

I was reading that Drury is waiting to see how the dominos fall with Eichel before signing Shesty to not get backed into being over the salary cap.

Not if he's good at his job. Winning will cure a lot of whining, but not all of it.

Jan,
Add Howden to the subtraction list. Already forgot about him.
And it's Keith Kinkaid, not Kevin.

there is 100% chance that he will be traded eventually and the Rangers are the #1 candidate, the story isnt going anywhere

not until he's traded somewhere else, or the Rangers acquire a different center

I think Buffalo would prefer to trade him to the Western Conference although they will take the best possible package.

Yep its no longer about what the Rangers should or shouldn't do, the reality is they really want Eichel and are waiting this out to try and get him.

Per Wysh's Eichel article today:

"Adams is traveling this week and was unavailable, per the Sabres."

Kevyn Adams is literally on vacation instead of figuring out the Eichel deal

hahahahahhahahahahahha

I love the NHL.

I've come to accept that there's a better chance than not Eichel is in a NYR sweater at some point, whether we like it or not. I think we all can agree there are significant risks involved. That being said, the last several cups have all been won by teams with an exceptional 1-2 center combo, there aren't many 2Cs that we talk about on this board that would give us a combo in the same league of Stamkos-Point for example.

I think Drury having a close relationship with Eichel's agents factors in here and they'd all like to see Eichel get to NYC

it would be a relief if he got traded somewhere else so everybody can just move on

cap projected to go up 1 million to 82.5 million in 2022-23

According to Frank's report, the salary cap will rise $1 million per season through 2025-26, at which point escrow will be paid off and the cap can jump more significantly.

Translation: It's going to be a slow crawl.

I wonder if at some point, it's going to be like baseball where no team signs older guys, no matter how good they are. Somebody is going to get crunched, probably a bunch of players.

I just hope this Eichel news is over soon. Let the dude have the surgery he wants so he can try to play as much of next year as he can.

the owners refuse to let the salary cap go higher, yet at the same time are always devising new ways to circumvent it

The NHL financials just suck. The cap takes a way from the game bc its such a focal point every offseason and season
