Just saw Vegas odds for coming season. They have Flyers 6th in the Met behind Isles..Pens..Caps..Carolina and Rangers. With Devs improved in a big way also Met Division is going to be a beast. Team is going to have to get out of the gate good like last year, though their early record was deceiving. Lets all hope we can have a normal hockey season.

Remember when Vegas odds had NJ winning the division two years ago? It's meaningless.

The 19-year-old Foerster, who will turn 20 on Jan. 18, was able to spend all of last season in the American Hockey League with the Phantoms due to the cancelation of the Ontario Hockey League season. With the temporary suspension of the CHL/AHL age rule in 2021-22 for teenage players who spent last season in the AHL, Foerster would be eligible to have his contract slide to the AHL again unless he makes the Flyers' NHL roster and burns the first year of his entry-level contract.

Zayde Wisdom, who turned 19 on July 7,holds the same exemption as Foerster if the Flyers prefer (as they likely do) him to play a second AHL season rather than returning to the OHL. Both Foerster and Wisdom showed promise in the American League this past season.

I've been asking about this for a while, nice to have confirmation.

I felt it would be unfair to a player who played a whole season in the AHL to have to go back to juniors simply because they weren't 20 years old.

Where would you have them ranked in the division as of today?

The Isles and Canes I think are lock playoff teams. Pens, Caps, Flyers and Rangers will fight over 3rd and wild card spots. Not a lot of separation between the those four teams in my eyes.

rumors of the pens and caps demise I will believe when it happens. They get the benefit of the doubt until then.

Rangers with a new good coach will be interesting to watch. Funny how they revamped their forwards with bunch of bottom 6 physical players.

They are definitely following the TBL model. Problem is they don't have Hedman or Vasilevskiy. Still think they will give up too many goals. They might be able to outscore that issue in the regular season. We will see.

Fox and the Russian goalie is a very good start.

Think it had more to do with Wilson than following Tampa imo.

If they are that focused on Tom Wilson than they need to reevaluate how they do business. Every team needs toughness but they went overboard. 6 years for Goodrow seems like a lot of term. Also, in my opinion Reaves will hurt more than he helps.

Caps-NYR games should be fun though.

Wow man an over the hill vet signs with the flyers. Impressive. No other team guaranteed him what the flyers did imo.

The flyers failed in free agency this summer.

6 years is a lot and Reaves is fine to me. He doesn't hurt you imo. I wonder if he will be in the lineup on a regular basis.

Just my take on why they "loaded" up on physicality.

Yeah it's still a killer division, but I am some glad we don't have to play Boston 8 times this year. Just a team we rarely beat no matter what changes they make.

I think the Isles and Car are a lock and Caps and Pens are always there. Don't see a regression yet. If Andersen works out for Car they are going to be great IMO.

So yes. No easy road, but I do believe that we'll be a better team this year. As everyone knows, if we can get back to actually playing defense in front of out goalie so he gets his confidence back that's huge. I think we can play with any of the teams in our Div and if we ever become more consistent with starts and strong effort look out.

Stay bitter! Lol
Some people just don't know how to be happy

And it's okay to be wrong. Just because an arm chair GM like yourself says it's not a destination it appears philly still is for over the hill veterans that other teams aggressively sought after

But you do you, dude!

They should be better by default after so many players had a bad year and regressed. Added some better players as well. That alone will make up a lot of points in theory. Unless all these hyped "young" guys are just that, hyped.

I just do not have a lot of faith in this coaching staff after watching last year. It was a mistake to bring all 3 back imo.

Not bitter in any way. Not wrong as the validity of my statement is right in front of you. Am I supposed to be impressed the flyers signed a #6 dman who is on his last legs? Sad this is what flyers fans have come to accept.

It is a fact many of the top free agents didn't give the flyer the time of day. Why do you think that is? Flyers struck out in free agency. Surely you have an opinion as to why so please share. Dude.

Aggressively sought after. Can you define your definition of aggressively sought after please.

Going to pontificate for a minute on Hart because I know that many are worried about last year's regression. I think we can all agree we need him to rebound to 2020 performance if we are to have a chance.

Part of what I saw in his regression was that essentially the overall team D did not play well in front of him (or Moose for that matter). Our d was so porous that we gave up numerous tap in goals on the far side (basically pass it around the goalie at close range and goal). So many that eventually it gets into the goalies head.

When that happens, whether the goalie realizes it or not, you tend to play too far back in your net or cheat to one side or another. Even when someone tells you that you're doing it, sometimes you can't stop, especially when an early goal or two are scored. Then, on top of the tap ins, you start letting in short side goals cause you are cheating far side and back and forth until you're not stopping anything. Eventually, you're confidence is shot and boy is it hard to get back. Even harder as a young player and it's compounded by not much practice time/sitting in a hotel alone stewing over it. It spirals

So fast forward to next year. My hope is that with better team d in front of him, that it begins to spiral the other way. Strong play in front of him means that Hart starts to trust that he's not going to get beaten with tap ins, so he plays his angles correctly and challenges confidently. Then, the d begin to have more confidence that their goalie is going to make all the saves he's supposed to and some he's not. D are then able to be more aggressive pinching and their confidence improves. It spirals the other way and the team starts winning a lot as a consequence.

Just my.02 but I wanted to share my POV on this as it's a lot more complex than Hart played terribly and therefore the team gave up too many goals and he sucks etc.

The D and overall team D was bad. No doubt. That being said a lot of goals both goalies gave up where bad and many were savable. That to me is on the goalies. Hart was so bad so just by default you expect him to be better. The big question is how much better. Until proven otherwise it is the biggest issue and concern with this team imo.

Goodrow is a really nice 3rd line forward. Solid player. Subtracting Buchnevich and adding Goodrow and Reaves was not really a good move. I understand they wanted more grit in the lineup but Buchnvich seems prime to explode as a player.

Grossmann….there’s an under appreciated player. Wish his knees held up a few more years. Flyers will win the series against Boston this year Really.

It is of huge concern. Correct. My point is that if the team plays poorly on D, goalies start to cheat. When you start to cheat, you start to let in savable goals as you call them. It's a symbiotic relationship and at a certain point, it spirals out of control meaning that those savable goals are a product of something larger and can't be only pinned on the goalie.

A win for me would be a split. When the new divs were announced before last year and I saw that we added Boston.. I said uh oh.. there's 16 pts out the window to a div opponent. As well, We had great success against Carolina the previous year and they were moved.

😆. 2050, You just can’t make up your own narrative. Outside of reports and the players own words you claim he had no greater offers. He choose to take less money to come to Philly by all reports (except 2050 opinion) and his own recount. Just like it go already.
