Didn’t mind the blog at all. Interesting numbers under each goalie coach.

Hextall on Jarry: "When you’re a goaltender - and I lived it - there’s disappointments that you have to get over and you have to bounce back from. I feel strongly that Tristan is going to bounce back and be a very good goaltender for us throughout the entire year."

I've echoed this sentiment before and I agree with Hextall, but to me the issue is time. Jarry may need another full season and playoff run to really find his footing and the Pens simply don't have the luxury of time.

At this point we really need to hope Jarry and Zucker have bounce-back seasons. I still think Pettersson is moved somehow. Hextall has said he wants a hockey move, but I think he'll have to settle for a cap dump if all else fails.

If they're going to bare-bones it, I'd move Pettersson to LA, ANA or whoever wants his service, take a 3rd then sign someone like Soderberg or Anisimov to a 1yr/$1M contract to man the 4th line until Geno returns pushing Blueger back to the 4th.

Ideally he moves a Pettersson package for Rackell, but I'd still sign that 4th C.

Time has already run out on the core. Hextall is going to keep them competitive without sacrificing any assets or draft capital. It may be hard to accept but it’s the best way forward imo.

See this common sense you have which is why EK should hire you to do both the Pens and Red Wings blogs!

I think they wait until Malkin starts his training this fall before they make any more moves. There are still going to be veterans available for 4th line help by then.

I'm not so sure they should trade Petts at this point unless they are bringing in another D that can kill penalties.

I'm not sure they have a choice unless they move Riikola instead to make space. They may not have enough room to keep ZAR depending on what arbitration says.

EDIT: Side note. Just saw ZAR's hearing is set for the 23rd.

I had no problem with the blog either. All it did was point out how our goal-tending has fallen backwards since Buckley took over.

Two straight goalies playing too deep in their crease. If you can't even correct that, what are you doing as a goalie coach.

This is exactly what they're going to do and I don't have a problem with it. I do believe Hexy butchered the off season however. Could have done better things with the same assets and cap space.

I wonder how much goalie coaches actually cost

A sure fire case of “if it ain’t broke, don’t t fix it”

Goalies played great under Bales, when his contract was up he left and went to Carolina. Until proven otherwise....

Might of been one of Rutherfords dumber decisions. Firing a goalie coach after winning two cups. I realize the money has changed the power structure of player vs coach, but why would you do that after so much success?

Tell Murray that YOU run the team and you're pretty damn fine with the direction of things. If he whines, well then you have insight into the fragile pin cushion he's become.

Shoulda never traded Phil the Thrill. 20G and 43P last season, only 13 PP points.

Rather have Phil at 6.8 than Zucker at 5.5.

He will most likely fall in the 1.8 area we have remaining. That would put us maxed out with 2 goalies, 7 D and 14 forwards. Sending down Lafferty and Zohorna gives you 1.5 to play with. It's going to be tight, but they can make it work.

They can fit him. If ZAR gets over that cap space it won't be by much and Zohorna doesn't need waivers so he can be sent down and they can recall guys after Malkin goes on IR.

They could still use some space from moving Pettersson and adding back a 3M player. But as I've said before, I don't like our 2nd pair options without Pettersson and Ceci.

I'd still like to see them sign some cheap vet like Bozak. Maybe they can move out Riikola to make that happen. I'm most concerned about the Pens lack of C depth.

Much like capfriendly, I have Riikola buried so moving him doesn't help much other than I'm sure ownership wouldn't mind saving 1M.

They could waive Lafferty. I think most of these guys have played sone center, but you're right, they're pretty screwed if a center gets hurt before Geno comes back.

You’d be better off running Sid-Carter-Blueger-ERod down than middle than wasting the time or effort to get someone as useless as Bozak.
