Someone, I think Justin Bourne, suggesting that they bring a few guys in cheap and give them a chance to compete for a spot on a line with the big boys so they pad their stats for a big paycheque. It’s why Ritchie and Bunting left $ on the table. - Canada Cup
I read something similar (maybe Friedman?) that the Leafs pretty much assured both that they will get a shot in the top-6. Nothing guarantees they'll stay there, but they will get the opportunity. |

Read that as well, that Ritchie will likely start the season with Matthews or Tavares |

Put Engvall on LW with AM or JT and see if he can get it done. |

Couldn’t even make the Hab lineup at times...that’s a good payday for him.
I wish we could have some Tatar Sauce though. |

Well Savard replaces Weber on the defensive side of things, but won't be as monstrous as the Captain.
Hoffman is a small upgrade over Tatar offensively, should also help our PP alot.
The biggest question marks for the Habs moving forward are at centre because right now they have to hope Kotkaniemi can fill that 2nd line centre spot and one of Evans/Poehling can be effective on the third. So that's betting on your young guys alot with no veteran presence to backup a failure from one of them.
They would also need a puck moving defensemen ideally.... right now, aside from Petry and Romanov (who hopefully will take a bigger role next year) we don't have alot of guys who excel in moving the puck to our forwards.
I still have no idea where Drouin fits in all this either. From all reports, he's supposed to play. Let's hope, mostly for his sake, that he feels better. |

He's very good in the regular season.
Somehow disappears in the playoffs.
Where have I heard that before?

Strengthend bullpen should help going forward. All they need now is a new manager. |

I am not big on Savard...Solid number 4 guy but hard to replace what Weber brings.
As for Hoffman? I feel Tatar was a great fit in the regular season and Hoffman could replace that or flop.

Why?
He's a steady producer and amongst the best at 5 on 5 the last 3 years.
The Devils are hoping to make the playoffs, Tatar can help you make it there.
He's just not showing much once you're actually there.
