Kings traded for Arvidsson and then signed Danault and Edler. They're going for it now, they're not trading Kopitar.

Too bad we could not have signed Nick Ritchie. He still have a few million in cap space. Wonder what else Tre has up his sleeve?

I think a healthy Monahan staying isn't so bad but again as we saw over the past few years with other players, utilization has been a big part of the issue. The Gaudreau/Monahan pairing always seemed to be the primary focus. They had a bad stretch, coaching would mix up the lines but always put them back together hoping for a spark. I think we fans have wanted more from Monahan that what he is. He's not going to grind, check hard, fight. He's going to plunk his ass in the high slot, find a little bit of space and put up 20+.

Calgary won't get Kopitar, nor will they try. Pipe dream.

Thanks for the article.

Big yes to Kopitar, depending on the price. Calgary taking Kopitar would only happen if LA wants to go all-in on Eichel. If Kopitar could be had for cheap, almost like a cap dump so LA makes room for Eichel it could be a good move.

Interested in Fischer, Manson, and Laughton. Adding a couple of these guys and then trying to unload Lucic to a team in the Metro would be a shrewd move.

Yep, Im blown away how many think Monahan at 26 is washed up. The guy scores goals, that's important in this league. When healthy he knows how to get in the spots he needs to score. Last year his shooting percentage was 1/3 of what he normally shoots & yes he had a bad hip/injured & I would think be a captain obvious reason for that. He just needs to have the right line mates. The only way we would move him is f we somehow score a top C like the Eichel chatter. I dont see LA parting with Kopitar. Not a chance.

Monahan is 26. We have not idea the toll all these surgeries have taken. Year after year we keep saying that a healthy Monahan will bounce back. Year after year we are disappointed.

In the best-case scenario, he can learn how to play a more responsible game under Sutter and be a good 2C.

The worst-case scenario is that he has slowed down a step and his release is not as good as it once was.

Personally, I see no point in trading him as his value has got to be at its lowest point.

I liked the article and most of the names mentioned, except Tanev at that cap hit, and there is no way LA is moving Kopitar after the moves they've made this offseason, UNLESS it is to create cap space for Eichel. But I'm not so sure. I would love Laughton and/or Manson on the Flames. And why not give Svechnikov a shot?
I hope Treliving is looking at that.
I've been critical of Monahan, but I'm interested to see what he can do with Mangi/Coleman on his wings. They will forecheck like mad and create space for him, as well as causing lots of turnovers. Still not sure Coleman can set him up though.

I'd have liked to see Rakell on this team...

Agreed Mony is still a very good 2C and the contract (2 x 6.375) is not prohibitive.
Also highly unlikely Calgary is on Kopitar's 7 team trade list!
Fisher is an interesting guy (right shot RW, heavy, affordable & good friends with Chucky) but he is a 4th line winger so not sure he is a big target.
Targeting Dvorak (Chucky history too) from the Yotes as a 1/2 C combo with Lindy or Mony (Lindy back on RW) I like though.

I like the idea of Svechnikov, only 24, playing RW.

Solid numbers for a solid player. Sutter will make him into a perennial shutdown 15 goal scorer. #insutterwetrust
