He needs to progress steadily this year or he will never live up to that first overall status and to be honest he should be making a difference nightly regardless. No one talks about McDavid not being up to the task because of poor coaching or constant changes behind the bench.

Incredible to me that this is the be-all, end-all, make or break season for Dahlin. At 21 years old he'll NEVER, EVER, EVER be worthy?

Other than the first half of last year he has pretty much been what we hoped he would be. Given that the entire team was getting run over with Ralph last year and he looked like the player he used to be under Donnie, why the dramatics?

that makes sense because he was such a solid and dynamic player on the PP....

It was good to see the kid turn it around last year. I wonder now if he can take the next step, make this his team. Hughes almost supplanted Petey up in VAN. A defenseman can take the reigns and he's got the talent to do it.

I think his skating is the one area that separates Hughes and Makar from Dahlin. Dahlin needs to feel the game and have confidence to try his dipsy doodles and crazy passes because he's not going to blow past people with his speed.

Dahlin was double clutching passes under Krueger and doubting himself which resulted in telegraphed passes that were then picked off. We didn't see that lack of confidence under Wowie Housley

good point

This is a free season for 26 in the sense any good fan knows we're about a 20 win team this year. He should feel 100% free to experiment/create with his game to learn what he can and cannot do at this level. Meatballs sounds like he's going to keep the green light on for him and rightfully so. If he plays 82 games again this coming season I think he'll have have the right balance for his game.
