I could see this as possible. However, the Blues will not offer sheet him. I could see the Blues offering Thomas, Perunivich, Vladi and a high draft pick. This would not hurt the Blues that bad and help Ottawa with their rebuild. I know Brady is more proven than Thomas and Perunivich. As another poster mentioned, Ottawa could flip Vladi for prospects/picks and come out looking pretty good.

I missed that one. Like best in Blues history... or like better than Orr, Lidstrom, Harvey, Bourque, etc...

All time. Basically, we all know Orr was terrible in his own end, and Pronger showed tremendous leadership by frequently getting suspended and acting like a jackass. Plus, he was a top-2 dman that one time he won a Cup. How could Lidstrom or Potvin possibly top that?

Scotty Bowman said Orr and Lidstrom were the 2 best d-men to ever play, and it wasn't even close. Maybe he just meant after Pronger...

If Brady was smart he would sign an offer sheet with St. Louis for 7-8m over 3 years, Ottawa would match and Brady gets the short term deal he wants.

Bizarre to see this random "rumor" just as Tkachuk gets back into town in Ottawa for training camp. Most indications are that an extension will be done within the next week, so I'd say there's <1% chance of anything like a St. Louis deal happening. But even just in the interest of the academic exercise...

Offer Sheet
Unless the Blues were preparing to give up four 1st round picks, they would need to re-acquire their 2nd round pick from the NYR in order to make any kind of meaningful <$10.2M offer sheet to Tkachuk. This might be possible if they moved Tarasenko to the Rangers, however any offer sheet in the <$10.2M range would be matched by the Senators, regardless of contract structure. Quite frankly, the Blues could do more damage with a shorter term (i.e. the minimum 4yrs of RFA status) than they could with contract dollars.

Trade
The Senators would have no interest whatsoever in the Tarasenko mess. So Blues fans can stop expecting their salary cap issues to be dealt with from this trade, in addition to making off with by far the most valuable asset. I don't agree with the blanket statements some people have made about the Blues having no prospects that would be of interest, but it would definitely take a package. Maybe something like Thomas, Bolduc, a 1st, and maybe another prospect like Peterson/Robertsson would be the kind of return you'd see.

The real question here is how can Pierre Dorion and Brad Treliving be guaranteed that Doug Armstrong won't show the public the pictures/videos he apparently has of both of them fornicating with multiple species of farm animals?

If you're talking an offer sheet, 9 * 7 . If you're talking trade, nikita-alexandrov, Jordan Kyrou and a 1st.
- FLAMESTR

Why would blues trade kyrou + alexandrov and a first for someone who put exacy same numbers up as kyrou with more toi than kyrou.

Kyrou is probably the fast 23 under player in league right now. So no thanks

Fact: Brady Tkachuk has no issues with Ottawa

Fact: He will not be traded for many many years (if ever)

Fact: He will sign a long term extension around 8m or he will get a bridge deal similar or less to Matthew

Fact brady will take a contract that gets him to free agency as quick as possible.

Fact brady will leave in about 4 years in ufa and become a stl blues.

Lol St. Louis would be giving up the 1st. Thomas is a middle six player. Tarasenko is an injury riddled first line winger that has two years left on his contract. Simply put the Sens cannot be that dumb.
- Jammerz04

Robert thomas is 22 and will easily be a top line center soon. Lol middle six what a Joker you are. Also kyrou performed better than tkachuck and played less minutes lol. He is not as costly as you make him out

What's your perceived value of Vlad and Logan Brown? Because it seems high if Calgary is only getting a 4th in this deal.

Yes his trajectory is similar to Bergeron. With exception of last year. Watch him this year

Which Bergeron would that be, Marc-Andre? Patrice Bergeron had 30G/70Pts in his 2nd NHL season, and had another 20G/70pts season in his 3rd NHL season. He led the Bruins in forward ice in both of those years, and his development essentially made Joe Thornton expendable. Robert Thomas had 12pts in 33GP last year in his 3rd NHL season, and very likely won't even be a top-6 forward heading into this season. That's because you can't just "except" the most recent season a player has when making an over-the-top statement like that.

In fact, Robert Thomas' first 3 full NHL seasons look a whole lot more like Colin White's, if you're in the comparison game... except White actually had the better year last year, despite starting the year as a healthy scratch.

Unreasonable

The notion that the Blues could acquire two elite, young players at the cost of an oft-inured and very expensive winger who publicly requested a trade, a depth defenseman, and a 3rd round pick is certifiably insane

You have a lot of respected journalists and hockey pundits on your show (especially Kevin Allen), why do you need to do these sensational headlines?

Yeah, that's why these are rumours, not news. Rumours don't have to come true to have been actual rumours. Now, are they credible rumours? It depends on the sources, but honestly, would it be really that surprising if other teams (St-Louis or not) were considering presenting an offer sheet to Brady Tkachuk? From a Hockey perspective, it would have made more sense for a team to offer sheet Tkachuk than Kotkaniemi (But Tom Dundon fragile ego being what it is :p.) If you ask me, I wouldn't be that surprised to see a team offer sheet Tkachuk, but I would expect Ottawa to match it. Then Tkachuk would be sorta stuck in Ottawa. The whole thing could get messy. Then again, you have plenty of cases of players getting along with their original organization after singing an offer sheet...who knows.
- Phil87

If the point of an offer sheet is to take the player from the team, it would not make more sense to offer sheet someone you have no chance of taking away. So yes, would be surprising for a team to offer sheet him. Ott has way too much cap and money. So it makes no sense, since you wouldnt get them. Carolina wanted Kotka, habs gm recently offer sheeted their player and ott was in a position where matching would be a bigger headache than not. Makes more sense than offer sheeting a better player that you wont get. Look how that turned out for Canadiens.

or someone offer sheets him to a 4 year 6mil contract. BT signs and it takes him straight to free agency. IN 4 years he signs with the blues.
