If you're going to extend blame out to Stan a lot of people in other fields will be off their BOD's. Sexual harassment happens every day in every organization.

I'm not blaming, accusing anyone of anything.

Without commenting on the culpability of any of the players in this more than unfortunate incident, if what the alleged victims say is true, this goes well beyond the odd smirky comment or come-on (as bad as those are).

This is approaching sexual assault by Aldrich on the level of his actions a few years later that got him on the sex registry in Michigan, and those earlier that should have led to retribution.

Assault is definitely different than harassment but lets be clear, there was no rape or attempted rape or cover up of such an assault. Also sounding like there was NOT a recommendation letter by Chicago either.

What you are completely missing is the value of public opinion. Olympics is a business as any other, and optics mean something.

From Pope in the Sun Times, 7/22/2021>

Amended versions of two lawsuits against the Hawks were filed Thursday and obtained by the Sun-Times. The first amended lawsuit claims Aldrich forced the Hawks player, identified as “John Doe 1,” to have nonconsensual sex — a specification that was previously unclear.

The lawsuit alleges Aldrich invited Doe 1 to his apartment “under the premise that Aldrich would go over game clips” with him. Upon Doe 1’s arrival, however, Aldrich allegedly turned on pornography and began to masturbate in front of Doe 1.

When Doe 1 tried to leave the apartment, Aldrich allegedly “blocked the only exit” and “physically threatened” Doe 1 with a souvenir Cubs baseball bat, telling him he would “never play in the NHL . . . if [he] did not engage in nonconsensual sexual activity with Aldrich at that time,” according to the lawsuit.

With Doe 1 left “paralyzed in fear,” Aldrich then allegedly “exposed himself” to him, “forcibly touch[ed]” him, performed other “lewd and lascivious” acts and finally “ejaculated on” him, according to the lawsuit.

Sounds like assault to me (not proven yet, but that’s the allegation).

Any info about why this information was not in the original complaint? Seems curious.

Anyway, the Hawks should've fired the turd. Oh, wait.....

I found that curious also. You would think that if this incident was so traumatic, Doe would remember every detail to a T. At least for me, it makes it harder to know if this really happened, or if Doe is being coached.

Well without the additional information, according to Illinois law, there is no assault. I wonder if the "meeting" with Vincent included this information, I also wonder if this was just added to the lawsuit, because without it, they have no case.

Blackhawks finally announce prospect exhibition roster for this weekend vs the Wild.

I’ll have a blog tomorrow with thoughts and suggested lines.

Thanks Theo. It will be interesting to see if Krutil can get things moving in the right direction. He seemed to struggle quite a bit last year (possibly in over his head in the AHL). I'm also curious to see how Crevier does considering how much he is mentioned here.

You aren't wrong, but the Olympics are a poop show in and of themselves. Russia wasn't "allowed" to win a medal, but all of their athletes still competed and/or won. There are constant issues with doping. The IOC itself is a disaster and it is plain to see that it is strictly about money (as opposed to some idealized athletic competition that is somehow more pure than professional sports).

I believe they care less about optics than you think. Even if it outwardly states as much, it is mostly simply theater.

Article I read where Chicago lawyers recently asked them to drop the suit was quite a bit different.

We'll see how this plays out, if there's the chance the optics means less viewership which equals less monies especially if sponsors have an issue withit, like the expression goes money talks bull poop walks
