These guys are probably in my top 5 favorite bands of all time.

I saw them in Ybor City like 6 or 7 years ago, and there MIGHT have been 30 people in the club and they rocked it out like it was a full house. Seen then 3 or 4 times since and every time the crowd gets bigger. It's been pretty rad to see them get more successful. They even got Mannie Fresh on that 2nd video.

My favorite cover is Jimi's cover of Dylan's All Along the Watchtower. Rare occurrence where the cover is better than the original IMO.

One of his best covers. Hey Joe is another.

I could be wrong but I think Hendrix did a lot of cover songs. Everyone does them, no big deal. It's just that he was such a talented guitarist. Then add in his large hands, he was able to create sounds that no one else could.

Jeff Buckley's "Hallelujah" (Cohen) and Manfred Mann's "Blinded by the Light" (Springsteen) are my two favorites.

Blinded by the Light has a claim for best cover of all time.

They did a lot of good covers in their MTV unplugged set, and absolutely killed the Meat Puppet songs, but Nirvana’s cover of The Man Who Sold the World is an S tier cover.

I also really like what the Chili Peppers do with Havana Affair. They killed it at their Slane Castle show back in the day.

Not sure if this is common knowledge, but reading Yohe's recent mailbag, in the Kessel trade the Leafs had their choice of Harrington or Dumoulin lol

I have to listen pretty close to tell the difference between The Beatles and Aerosmith versions...

He performed it on Howard Stern a while back and I was blown away. Such a raw gritty version.

Agreed. The Aerosmith one is good. It just sounds like a more modern version.

On this subject, did you guys know that Train did an entire cover album of Zeppelin II? One of the more outrageous things in music in recent memory that just flew completely under the radar.
- Victoro311

Wow haha thanks for this never knew. Pretty damn good.

I love Led Zeppelin but I also think they hijacked their music from other artists and simply performed it better lol

Stairway to Heaven
Whole Lotta Love
Dazed and Confused
Babe I'm Gonna Leave You
Etc.

There's a handful of hits that ripped off or copied other songs, not that I give a poop though, I still rock out to 'em.

We've had this convo before. The first two albums are very bluesy, with Babe Im Gonna Leave You, You Shook Me, Black Mountain Side, I Can't Quit You Babe and How Many More Times being actual covers and Plant taking other peoples lyrics for Whole Lotta Love and Lemon Song. Might of missed some other stuff there too. However, once Zep III hits they started heading for the stratosphere.

Just listened, and agree. It's much cleaner and crisper than the original.

Which goes onto support my (extremely unpopular) theory that Led Zepplin, while innovative and influential, are overrated musically, particularly as a studio band. And please FFS do not ever call them "heavy metal."

Edit: I'm also not saying they're no talents hacks a la Nickleback or anything. I just think they're very good musicians, but not worthy of the God pedestal they're put up on.

- jmatchett383

Well I mean they consisted of one of the best rock guitar players of all time and arguably the best drummer of all time...

I usually judge musicians' greatness on what they create not so much what they are technically capable of playing. They created a lot of great.

Yeah honestly don't remember how I found out about them, but they are a regular on my spotify.

Their Boss album is good, their Painkiller EP is awesome and their live performances are even better. I really want to get up to NO and see them in their element.

NHL Salary Cap expected to go up $1M next season. While not significant, that's a step in the right direction and may make keeping Rust a little more doable.

Therein lies my argument. Very good, no doubt.
