I personally don't think Kylington deserves a look. I was surprised when they re-signed him, tbh.

I think there's something there (skill wise), its just appears he's not anticipating the play and making glaring mistakes. Challenge is thats a harder skill to teach than foot speed or edge work.

I'd rather see them try to develop Kylington than to cycle Stone out there on a semi-regular basis.

Me too but his contract is a 2 way so expect him to be in Stockton

I know defenseman don't usually blossom until 24-26 but Kylington is 24 and hasn't shown the ability to be a top 6 defenseman in the league yet. He hasn't had much of an opportunity but he also didn't make the most of the opportunities he has had, much like Bennett.

He has a ton of skill but, in my opinion (and I don't really count for much) he won't be an NHL defenseman.

I'd like to see him over Gudbranson, though. What a head scratcher of a signing.

By seeing all these signings, the signal is clear that our management thinks that our prospects are not ready. Also, the value of our assets is at its lowest at the moment and it makes it more difficult to make a deal. I think Mackey is the closest D to the NHL. I, too, was surprised that we re-signed Kylington. I hope Zary wins the job as 3C but it's going to take an incredible camp.

Yeah, I don't really get having a couple of Regehrs back there, but it's Sutter's way. To have 2 slow guys who really aren't great defenders worries me in a very fast division. We're going back to the grindy days of 2003/04 without the benefit of being able to interfere with anyone without remorse

I wouldn't complain considering news has been slow for a while. Yet you guys complain about "area holes".

If anything we should be complaining about lack of glory holes.

Was wondering if they did not beef up on defense considering It’s a pretty condensed season.

But the idea of having the rookie outplay the vet is not a bad idea.

Or maybe Sutter just plans on gooning the team into the post season.

“I know everybody screams for change, and we talked about that, but we can only do things that are available to you,” said Treliving. “I can’t click my heels and make things happen. You have to have a trade partner. Nobody is ever done in this business — you’re always looking for ways to improve. But it has got to make sense. It doesn’t make any sense for us to give a player away for 50 cents on the dollar. It’s great to say, 'go get this guy.' Problem is, this isn’t fantasy hockey. The idea that you can go pick ‘this player’ off the player tree ... it doesn’t happen that way.” https://www.sportsnet.ca/...ring-top-players-calgary/

So that's why people are refusing to wear masks. Social distancing too, though. How would that work?

I have been watching its Alwasy Sunny in Philadelphia lately. My brain has been compromised.

Problem is Monahan's value is at an all time low. So no point in trading him. I feel that Tre botched the JG situation. Should have been signed before his list kicked in.

As John mentioned in an earlier blog. This team is not good enough to contend, so what is the plan? I guess the plan is trying to go for another miracle run like in 04.

Why are you even a fan if you’re writing them off already. If everyone plays up to their contract, they’re absolutely good enough to contend. The only one who’s definitely not going to do that is Lucic, and they have the most depth in the division.

The past five finals had a team who’d been previously underachieving who managed to get everything going right for the year. The Flames could easily be that team this year.

They also have a Cup winning coach and two superstars looking to get paid.

How did Treliving botch Gaudreau? Gaudreau has no motivation to sign for less than Marner money at this point and trading him isn’t an option. If the season’s a disaster, they’ll have no problem getting a nice return at the deadline.

I appreciate your optimism.
Every year there's a team that underwhelms on paper, underachieves regular season and manages to be a contender or champion. The Blues did it. I'd like to think thats the case with the Flames and if every current player(JG, Tkachuk, Mony, hell even Looch) can elevate their games under Sutter and play to where they are capable of, I'd agree, they can be a playoff team and thats were anything can happen. We need better results from our top players. Period, Full stop. That and a bounce back year from Markstrom, I'm squarely in the half full camp. Speaking of Markstrom, you guys see the mask?
