The Hawks are shopping Dylan Strome. I would think Dorian is talking to Stan about him.

So many teams over cap and should be calling Dorion for some cap relieve.

With Colin white going on LTIR will we be given extra 4 million on top? How does that work?

What happens to teams that are over cap now that the seasons has begun?

Stupid question here: I saw you put Brady in, does that mean he gets to play even though we haven't signed him and he hasn't shown up to training camp?

What a big difference a year will make! When I look at the lineup they'll have up front next year I feel so much better. Add in Sanderson and JBD on D and they really start to look like a playoff team. Keep in mind that they will still need to mature before they become truly dangerous. They've also got these other prospects like Kleven coming along.

I know people are impatient and want Pierre"Proudest Day of My Life"Dorion to fix the lineup this year so they don't give Buffalo a run for their money and challenge for the league's best lottery odds, and he most likely will do something. I just hope and pray it's not something too stupid. I'd be quite happy with a top five draft pick and maybe even a lottery win for a change.

What worries me are the extensions they've given Dorion and Smith. I remember the penalty shot awarded to Canada in overtime at the world juniours a couple of years back and Hunter had Lafreniere sitting on his bench but decided to go with Max, his kind of player. I remember when they first announced that Hunter was going to be the coach I told my brother they had no chance of winning because Hunter was a grinder and Canada was skill. Ottawa will need a coach that understands and respects skill as well as the grinder stuff. You need both if you're planning on winning the cup.

Dorin ought to wake up and trade Brady to the Blues, he can solve his problems in one deal. He can get Tarasenko (2 years left on contract) for the right wing who can score and Thomas (2 years on new contract) at center. This way Mr. CHEAP SKATE, Melnyk will be off with only two years to pay! I'm quite sure that the Blues would kick in a first rounder for 2023 or 2023!

I proposed this a while ago, and was countered with "Why trade for an old, broken player" and "Brady is worth much more" .
Give Brady what he and his daddy want and trade him to the Blues!

I'd love ROR as a Sen.

Unfortunate that we are even discussing "trade" at this point.

Nice write up.

I too am looking forward to next year. This year may be a little painfull again. I would like to see more of gustavsson this year.
Now that we are here. Its a starting to be a bit easier to evaluate if a full burn and slash rebuild is the way to go.
Albeit the proof in the pudding wont be for another 3-5 years.
Imo i would advise against any team going nuclear on their roster.

Honestly getting sick of the Tkachuk nonsense. Trade him to highest bidder.

If he thinks Ottawa isn't building to contention with the prospects they have then there ain't nothing they are going to do to convince him.

Bridge deal makes zero sense for Ottawa unless they plan to trade him in the last year anyways so might as well just get the trade over with now and secure a good top line forward prospect.

This is the problem with teardown rebuilds. You don't know if the players you draft will even want to play for you.

Why can't some billionaires just buy the team from Melnyk and put us all out of our misery so players will want to sign with the Sens for once.

I actually reported it on October 9th that Ottawa was talking with Chicago, but then the NHL insiders on TSN report it last night and now everyone is talking about it lol. But I can actually say I had it out there a few days ago!

Sens aren't doing a damn thing with the Tkachuk camp, it's quite awful how they like tell everyone they dont negotiate through the media but it's because they dont want anyone knowing how ridiculous they are in their silence in getting back to Brady!

Take Carolina for instance, they put Trocheck on IR as have other teams that are so against the cap!

By Dec. 1st the team will have no choice but to sign him to a bridge deal.

I feel like I've said this a million times at this point.

Brady holding out like this means he doesn't have faith in the team. That in itself should give Chabot the "C".

For Brady's contract if he's doing a bridge deal. $5-$6 million per year. If he's doing a 7-8 year deal, then go at $8-$8.5 Million per year. but he should still give the "C" to Chabot at this point.

He doesnt control who has the C, nor should anything related to the captaincy have to do with contract. Like others have said in the media, did Alfie have a long term deal with he was captain? If Brady is worthy to be the captain, then he should be the captain, no team in the NHL bases it on whether they have their captain locked up to an 8 year contract!

If you really think Dorion would trade Brady to his preferred destination because they cant come to a contractual agreement, then you are dreaming my friend!

No worries, never a stupid question. I dont have Brady down in the depth chart for the current line-up. I have him down for next year if you read further down, it says this is how I see it for next season. Hope that helps.

He wouldn't go to st. Louis simply because he prefers it....the Blues would also probably pay the most for BT and have some assets that might work for the Sens.

100% agree. Being a team captain isn't just about playing hard on the ice - you're also the face of the franchise in public and the media. Whether they like it or not, Chabot has been the face of the rebuild from Day 1, starting with the fact that his play facilitated the Karlsson trade. He also very quietly signed on long-term exactly as the team wanted, is (for my money, at least) the best player on the team, is a well-spoken guy, and can seamlessly engage the francophone element of the fanbase. Factor in Tkachuk's long-term reluctance and highly unpopular contract hold-out, and I don't really know how much more evidence you need to make the call.
