Zak,

Nice job this summer on the blog. I hope you keep writing all season.

I hope the team does great this year, but it is very hard to see how they do not stay out of the bottom 3 teams in the league. There are some talented players on it, but not enough to overcome a roster filled with journeyman players, both young and old.

The two rookie draft picks on the squad should be down in the CBJ's AHL franchise in Cleveland, and probably will end up there sometime this season. There should be someone or someones being found to play center since notebook paper is thicker than the depth down the middle.

I hope we can beat Buffalo, Arizona, and maybe Seattle. After those 6-8 games I couldn't care less what the final record is as long as we get a superstar-in-waiting at the top of the 2022 draft.

Good luck to Boone Jenner as the new captain, he has a large set of shoes to fill. I also hope he can stand being the captain of a bottom feeder team.

I just hope they don't embarrasse themselves, at least a playoff dog fight would be good for the fans.

I have no problem, in fact I prefer, them ending in the bottom 3 standings for a top-3 in the 2022 draft !! -
Predicated that this season is properly used to develop the skilled, young talent we have - specifically Chinahkov, Sillinger. If Larsen turns into Torts 2.0, using the quick benching every time a mistake is made, then this season will be as worthless as last season was.
I really believe Sillinger would benefit best by starting the season in Cleveland until he proves he doesn't belong there. Traverse City was a really good start, but do it for 20 games, against bigger, stronger players than in Juniors. I wouldn't be surprised if he plays 9 games in Columbus, then gets sent down . . . unless, of course, he sets the league on fire.
Since Chinahkov's already played a year in the KHL, his transition to NHL players should be easier. His transition to NHL speed, and rink size might be a different story, but he will probably stay in Columbus, unless he bombs.
It all starts tonight . . . and we better win the game.
