Hi Jacob, you are bang on when you said that on the Jets PK, everyone looked out of position. Sadly this has been the case for the majority of Maurice’s tenure here in Winnipeg.

Different personnel + same system = same results.

As for the number 1 power play, its time for Ehlers to get on it. After the team lost possession on a couple of power plays, they were having challenges getting back into the offensive zone.

I don’t even need to see the advanced stats to know that the Jets are still giving up a ridiculous amount of high danger chances.

And, Father Time is really catching up with Stastny and Wheeler fast. Both guys were showing their age last night.

Just some Sunday morning Ultimate thoughts…..

I agree with UltimateJet that this team looks out of sync with each other. The line combinations just don't make sense and the defensive system still seems nonexistent. Its still early but the Jets should not have lost to Anaheim and SJ, They will be tested against the Wild and have to wake up and show how this team is capable of playing. Stastny looked old, slow and should be on the 3rd line. I predict that the changes that the head coach will make is to bench Perfetti and Stanley and keep the line combo's the same. Its going to be a long season if the status quo remains as it is.

I am baffled at how Schifele got the extra 2 in the scrum after balcers collided with hellebuyck . He saw that balcers was pushed into helly, lowered one gloved hand to balcers shoulder to move him off helly, then 3 sharks overreacted and started a scrum. Bad call that turned out costly for the Jets.

Not sure if adding Ehlers to the 1st power play would help considering he went invisible after getting tapped by Burns stick. And if I had to choose I would put Perfetti in before Stastny and I like Paul but being slow and doing stupid things in front of your own net is no way to play hockey. And Schief stop wining at the refs you’re making yourself look bad!

You are right, 55 needs to find a more mature approach when he disagrees with the call and wants to address it with the ref.

I had to invoke my own 24 hour rule before commenting on two terrible games. On illegal curve Drew suggested they played arrogant, which was an interesting perspective that seems spot on. If they think things are owed to them because they’re good on paper, sadly we’ll see more results like this. I wouldn’t mind seeing what Harkins looked like with PLD and Ehlers, but I think it’s a pipe dream thinking there’s any chance Copp is moved away from these 2. I like Copp, but not particularly on that line.

Copp belongs with Lowry on the 3rd line.
Dubois and Scheifele need to go to Faceoff School.

Perhaps we should trade Stu Barnes for Randy Gilhen? That was the rationale provided when that trade was made.

Dubois from my perspective was one of the bright spots in Saturday’s loss to San Jose. It just seemed like he’s getting ready to dominate this season.

Agree Benny. Copp is not 2nd line material. The only reason he is playing there is because he is good defensively and the 2nd line gets more ice time and with both Dubios and Ehlers in offense mode it makes Copp not the worst option for balance. That all being said I think if Perfetti played that side then he might be the better option as he can provide both elements. It's hard to say where Perfetti will end up as he seems ahead of schedule and almost wasted talent on the Moose.

Dubios needs to stop taking costly penalties.I also noticed late last season and these first two games that Pionk seems to be in the sin bin a lot as well. Scheif needs to stop losing control of his temper because opposing teams are starting to take shots at him just to throw him off his game. Finally Wheeler just doesn't seem to have what it takes anymore on that top line. Loses a lot of puck battles. Second or third line looks like a better option for him and PP (if Maurice has any guts to do the right thing here)

Not worried about 0-2 start . There's lots I have seen in both games that look very promising once everyone starts to gel. There will be lots of games where the Jets win by 3 or 4 goals. Talent is there and chemistry will come. Might take 10 games before they really hit stride.

Rotowire says Wheeler is flagged for Covid positive test, if confirmed we will get a different look on the top 2 lines. Wheeler has been a slow starter for the past few years, this wont help.

Sounds like it's Copp with Connor and Scheifele and Stastny with Dubois and Ehlers according to Ken Weibe.

Miss him ? How can I miss him when I never liked him as a Jet in the first place ? Anyways, he's not even worth a bag of pucks now.

It's amazing how they can't terminate his contract. What a joke.

Bummer, was really hoping that Paul would move up a Perfetti or Harkins for a little bit, but no, the old retreads move up again...

It's only two games but the rope is getting shorter, IMO, for changes. Surely if Wheeler plays we won't have the same line-up, again, will we?

Not the coach obviously, but if I were it would be:
Connor-Scheif-Ehlers
Stastny-PLD-Wheeler
Copp-Lowru-Perfetti
Svechnikov-Gustafsson-Harkins
- Vesalainen on bench
- Nash to waivers

PP1 - 1st line plus PLD and Pionk
PP2 - Perfetti-Stastny-Wheeler-Morrissey-Schmidt

Lowry and Copp go together like peanuts and butter, got to be on same line
The time has come for Ehlers to be on top line!
What have we got to lose?
If the Jets don't play with more intensity, we won't beat anyone! Do you
think they will get it?

Lowry and Copp need to be kept on separate lines and they both need to be in the bottom six, Copp should be traded if anything.
