The game Sunday will be telling regarding what the team thinks of AV. With the multiple days off and time to practice might give us a clue if they tuned AV out or not.

So the 2011 phantoms, this years phantoms, and fletchers 2015 Iowa wild huh Bill?

It’s getting hard to give a crap about this organization. At the end of this year we might be talking about bottom 5 AHL AND NHL squads here. Certainly bottom 10.

But there is gritty

Bad enough AV is still employed, but Lappy?
Assistant coach of mostly crappy NHL teams and now he’s arguably the most inept HC in the AHL. This organization’s reluctance to move on from mediocrity is infuriating.

Good thing you guys don't run the organization, lol.
Or any organization, for that matter.....

Fire the coach, fire the AHL coach, fire the GM, fire-sale our players....

Man, you guys need to settle down.

We're sitting at .500 pretty much 1/4 of the way through the season.

What do you think the record would be if the goaltending was performing like the 18 skaters who take the ice each game?

I don't think a more out of touch post with the current situation could possibly be made. Another week or so of .500 play and the season is pretty much over.

what's embarrassing about the phantoms.......with the years of draft and develop you would think they would at least be in contention........they're not even pushing for a wild card position.

Even worse than that. They've won 7 out of 20 games in regulation.

To be fair, they are dealing with a lot of injuries.

I think it was Hitchcock that said a head coach's chief responsibility is to keep their team on the road and out of the ditch.

This is the second season in a row that AV has completely lost the handle on this team, with no evidence that he knows how to turn it around.

Every team has to deal with Covid. Every team has to deal with injuries. Every team has to deal with scoring streakiness. Every team has to deal with the inherent variability of goaltending quality.

But a good coach finds ways to make adjustments, maintain solid process, keep individual guys from getting too high or too low, identify and eliminate bad habits, etc.

This coaching staff seems to be at a total loss.

This again?? Once and for all, Hockey is played 5 v 5 and is played for 3 twenty minute periods. This is how its been for decades and this has not changed! Ties have never left this sport! What you call something does not make it something other than it is. When the 3 periods conclude and the score is tied, the game is a TIE and each team gets 1 point. Anything after that is hockey theatre, whether its 3 on 3 or the shootout (skills competition). Its fun to watch, but its theatre! Yes a team gets an extra point for this theatre, but to me I will never concede a "real" loss when OT is not 5 on 5 and certainly not due to a skills competition.

Yes exactly. I've seen countless team with far less talent that the Flyers have, even with the injuries. Play a solid structured game and use team play to compete and stay in games. This team is a mess in all facets except goaltending. There is no indication at any level of play that the coaching staff is in control.

Agreed

I do believe however that if this continues for a 2nd straight year that CF needs to act boldly at the deadline to continue to change the mix of players, and in the off season find a new coach. But right now, CF needs to remain patient and see if the team can get healthy and play their way out of this. They did it in 2019, they can do it in 2021.

I am just happy that there's no game tonight. I need a break from watching unwatchable Flyers games TBH.

I also expect we'll get destroyed by the Rangers tomorrow night so there's that..

If so we have plenty of pieces to move. Question is what’s the value to other teams. We have at least 5 players that should be easy to unload.
