It's a rather odd time to be calling Keith out as he's been entirely holding up his end of the bargain since mid-November. 9-7 goal share and a 51.4 xGF to go along with some pretty slick stretch passes. He has made his share of mistakes but so too have Nurse, Ceci, and Bouchard. And if you take the analysis one step further and score adjust it, he's sitting on 6-2 goal share and a 53.4% xGF when within 1.

EDIT: He's 7-2 on-ice since Christmas with a 58.3% xGF FWIW

Wanna call someone out? Tyson Barrie. 4-8 goal share 40.8% xGF when within 1 since Dec 1st. Oof.

My lord... what a strange set up.. but as an Angels fan.. I see the total correlation... Trout and Shotime.. and a few decent pieces with no Pitching... gee why can't we win...

What Goalies are important.. who knew...

Ok here goes...Gibson for Drai...

Unless you're Shoehi Ohtani, a baseball player doesn't impact the game nearly as much as a hockey player does. In baseball, you don't really play against another team, there isn't a lot of randomness. Yes, errors happen, but the batter doesn't really cause it.

This is why advanced analytics work so much better in Baseball than other team sports. Like don't get me wrong, every damn NHL team should have an analytical department as they can be useful, but basing every roster decision off analytics won't work like it does in Baseball.

I'd rather Bear & Bouchard over Bouchard, Barrie and Ceci.

Awful decision.

well said - I do think the pitching to goalie correlation has value because they face the other team most.

Barrie has also been awful, didn't have enough time to post about why each defender is struggling.

I maintain my position that Keith isn't struggling, but I guess you're free to disagree... even if you're wrong

You can think whatever you like. Some good fancy stats doesn't excuse the number of times a game he is late to come back into the rush, get beaten on the outside, or simply plays his man wrong in his own end.

Keith has slowly rounded in a decent form for a second pairing D-man. Barrie on the other hand is showing now why Colorado and Toronto both traded him and refused to resign him. If I was coaching I would have switched to 3-line winger by now if there was a replacement for him on the right side. Good thing Koski is not starting because that would guarantee a loss, because the team cant trust him. At least with Smith they have a possibility of challenging for a win.

Sean quit sugar coating it! The Oilers aren’t 2-6-2, they’re 2-8-2
I know you’ve offended some of the diehard fans on here by being honest but come on call a spade a spade.
Anyone that thinks 39 year old Keith making 5.5/year is a good signing, should get in line to trade for 38 year old Giordano, only cost ole Holland a 1st.

Actually Gio. would still be the best all round D-man on the flames roster if he was still there so maybe Calgary should commit that 2-end round draft pick for him that Seattle is supposedly looking for.

I suppose you could start the retool by claiming Riley Nash off of waivers.
