Thanks Jeremy and I pray this New Year brings peace and comfort and a heck of a lot less physical pain for you!

I have been caring for my ailing wife the past several days. She is on the mend now but is not up to doing much yet. I feel for her if I get sick, as I make a lousy patient.

As for this team: I can't see them doing much, then they turn around and win a game in very convincing fashion. Which probably does not account for much when you are facing a team without their most valuable player(s). So I just watch and try to take away some positive action that happened within the game.
I'll be watching them play the Kings tonight and wondering which Kings are traded to the Yotes for Chychrun.

So sorry brother. My wife has been dealing with chronic pain since about 1999. We had 9 trips to Mayo and couldn’t get it fixed. Now with me broken down, it’s like a 4 way stop in Boston. No one knows when to go and when to stop!

I would give up a lot for Chycrun. Apart from Larkin, Raymond, Seider (possibly Cossa and Edvinsson and this year’s 1st) everything should be on the table.

How does Edvinssons year compare to Seidwr last year?

Also generally curious in thoughts of Zadina for Kakko trade. Two struggling high picks.

Ok, i pulled Seider’s stats from last year as a U20. He’s was first overall in his age group in goals/assists/points. Edvinsson is also #1 in his age group. S.E. Is pulling .5 points per game, Seider was .68. Johansson last year was pulling .43. Impressive that Detroit had two 2 last year and top 1 this year

I chew on the Zadina issue probably more than any other. Here’s where I’m impressed. Zadina works. If he’s not scoring, he’s working on the backchecking side of his game. I remember Laine doing an interview a couple years ago saying, “you have to cheat to score” which was a shot at Torts. Or blaming his linemates. I don’t know Kakko, but I guarantee Yzerman has a book on that kid. If that deal happened, it will be one that had a lot of good back and forth. I also wonder if a healthy Vrana would alter the 2nd line drastically enough to help Zadina find some more offense. Larkin has been boosted by Raymond so much. He and Bert are probably related. Zadina is now part of the ever unstable 2nd line. Suter has grown and is getting results. Should Fabbri stick and send Zadina down? Or would Zadina/Suter/Vrana be a really good option? No clue. Only guarantees are the left side D needs help. Everything else feels like a question mark

Zadina: Would trade him in a package for Chychrun
Z, 2023 1st, Albert Johansson for Chychrun. The logic being that it is easier to replace a winger than a good 1at or 2nd pairing D-man.
Eddy: He is doing great and we just be may able to see him play for the Wings for a couple of games at the end of the season.
4-way stop: When I owned my '72 Dodge Charger with the smashed in front end and the spider web crack in the windshield, which I drove like that for 4 years, and I can boast that I was ALWAYS allowed to go 1st at a 4-way stop!

Hey Feds!

Yeah I realize the overpay, but LD is really bad. And Leddy is all but gone.

It’s a rebuild. Trading away assets is how you end up like Buffalo

So cool to see the band getting back together again!!!

So, am stuck in the house sick….I should be doing beer commercials there’s so much Corona around this place!!!

JEREMY: Faith, brother. Challenges build character. Lord knows we’ve all got waaaay too much character now. I pray you find that place where peace is yours.

Would love to see Ed get a game or 8 in at the end of the season, he’ll need time to adjust to NA ice & speed. Once there, he’s got the tools to be really good.

Vrana’s making strides, looks to be on-path to be back by late-February. I think that will take some heat off of Zadina. He works his tail off; one of the better back-checkers and VERY strong as a defensive forward. The work he put in to be more defensive is really impressive. He definitely adapted his game to gain a place on the Big Club. Now, he’s got to refine is O-zone play. Vrana coming back can definitely make teams focus on 2 lines v just 1….but it’s going to take time for him to get to NHL form, so expecting an immediate impact is misplaced, I think. But this team has the tools coming together to be a vastly improved, and somewhat dangerous team.

Hope ‘22 comes to you all with an improved outlook and better fortune that ‘21.

"What the Coyotes are looking for is a young player, a high-end prospect plus a first-round pick. Teams we believe that have the assets who could do that and might be interested, include the Los Angeles Kings, perhaps the St. Louis Blues and certainly the Anaheim Ducks–who might be losing Hampus Lindholm to unrestricted free agency at the end of the year."
"Chychrun is a prize that almost every team in the league could be interested in, even those out of this year’s playoff race. Signed through the 2024-25 season he carries a cap hit of just $4.6MM and would step into almost any top-four with ease."

I do not think Stevie will get in this bidding war. But I still think this guy would be a great add to the Wings

At some point you might want to just admit that Zadina is a bust. I've said this for ages now. Cool that he works hard. He'll hang around as a fringe player for a few years and then disappear in Europe. Veleno might join him. Maybe form a line with Pulkkinen somewhere.

That implies that you keep turning it back on 😉
Very painful watch, for sure. Larkin threw hands, not something you want to see from you Captain….he really needs to learn how to fight 🙄

Disagree just because Zadina's two way ability has grown leaps and bounds. His floor is a solid third liner. He has become a great defensive winger and back checker. As for being the top line goal scorer we had hoped, 99.9% not happening.

Honestly could see him and Veleno on the third line together.

Elliotte Friedman mentioned the Wings might have interest in Chychrun which now means there is no chance he ends up in Detroit. Yzerman trades don't end up in the media before they happen or even in rumors really. They always seem to come out of nowhere.

Greiss has not looked good this year.

Not necessarily surprising considering he's almost 36 and was never that good in the first place (though I think he was underrated most of his career). But still.

Smith needs to be benched. That powerplay was for him instigating a fight after a clean hit. Every game he's either completely invisible or you notice him dong stupid stuff like that.

Maybe trade him for DeSmith and a pick, now. Pens need a back-up for their push. And DeSmith can be let go after this season. If Wings retain 1/2 of Greiss's salary, that pick would be a 3rd.

Yzerman strikes as the kind of GM (like Lamoriello) who would drop a deal if the other team leaked any info. I can't think of a trade he has made that info was leaked before it was made or that Detroit had any interest in said player.

My take on the viewership situation may be limited based on the subscriptions I have, but people don't seem to have access to games as much. I use YouTube TV paired with an Amazon Fire Cube. YouTubeTV has five ESPN channels, but they haven't broadcast a single game this year. I mistakenly purchased the ESPN + app, only to find out all local games are blacked out, so I had to get an NHL package just to watch Wings games. So, with YouTubeTV, I get zero NHL games, with ESPN +, I only get out-of-market games. I'm not sure how other providers are on games and if it's unique to YouTubeTV, but if the only way people are getting games is via NHL and/or ESPN + subscriptions, then obviously their viewership is going to be way down.
